Nah... It wasn't bugging me too much, but I read about the different bore spacings when checking out ZZR cams.

Evidently, ZZR1100 cams can actually be utilised in a ZRX12 motor with a bit of dicking around, but slotting in ZZR1200 cams in, is a much simpler affair.

I still stand by my claim though.... All of my bolt-on stuff will fit a 1200!

Cheers,
Pete

Its an '01 model. They were available in a few colors over the years - blue, silver, red, green. I saw a couple of black zrx's but its possible that they may be custom painted. I eventually want to paint it all black with a little airbrushing but later on.

fitted is a full muzzy stainless system, K&N filter, taller screen, seat cover by sheepy hollow, heated grips, gps - its a touring machine! oh, and also has been re-jetted and dynoed at 126.2hp at the wheel, its good for an 11.6 run on the quarter :P

The black was a standard colour in 01 as well. Red ones really remind me of the original GPz's...

I chased a bloke on a ZRX1200 back from natural arch when i had my old riffer (RF900) and i was giving my bus all it had on the straights and late braking upto the turns, even showing an unhealthy level of commitment IN the turns to stay with him and he made it look easy.

He did look a litle pissed off that i was still there when we stopped to regroup tho.

To top it all off the bloke had only borrowed the bike for the day and it had some pace!

This is my Black Pearl 2001 model (furterest from camera) I have owned from new. Currently 65'000klm. Picture taken @ Stinger Rally via Ingham Nth Qld 2004. Never seen more than 3 black ones together.
Mine ran 11.4s 1/4 with a carbon can & K&N filter only. I sure hope those ZZR12 cams fit cause I put em in mine about 15 mths ago  . Now runs 11.06s.
These are a real allrounder will blow anything away across the lights. Original magazine tests report the FZ1 will only START to reign in a ZRX once over 8000rpm. (ZZR cams fix that little problem 8) )
Coming from a CBR 1000 I also found the extra steering lock avail very handy in tight traffic. Having test ridden a new Z1000 I know I made the right choice for me. The Z relatively speaking feels down right anemic below 8500rpm, by then the ZRX is 20m ahead.
I LOVE my ZRX, just ask my missus :D .

Hmm, maybe a ZRX rideout should be organised? 8)

What was required to fit the zzr1200 cams? any mods? what timing did you use?

Nothing special thumpa, just follow the ZRX manual for removing & installing camshafts. Some cam install lube is a good idea, avail from Supacheap, under the Penzoil brand from memory. From my car engine rebuilding days I prefer to run my cams in for 20 min's @ 2000rpm (approx). Don't know if that is still current thinking :? .
 Make sure U inspect your old cam lobes & rockers (especially #3&#4 inlet) for damage :x . Replace any damaged rockers, reset clearances as per manual. You may be able to have cams & damaged rockers replaced by Kawasaki :?: .
Timing wise I set mine up with the standard sprockets , money restraints :( , preferably buy adjustable sprokets :) .

all things going to plan i WILL have a zrx in the shed by end of this year, any of the cloours will do, it just has to be a zrx12.

having adopted the "gosling principle" i best start making room in the shed next to the 9 and the mighty zeph.
