Great write-up mate :kuda:

I am surprised though that just 1 tooth different on the rear made so much difference ? stock 15/43 = 2.86, where 15/42 is 2.8. Difference is only making the gearing 0.06 taller......thats only 6% ? Changing one tooth on the front generally makes a big difference.....but only one on the back I would have thought would be barely noticeable....

I used to use a G-clamp as well on the joining link  but with a small socket to push down on the sideplate. It seems to work pretty well....

Thanks Robracer, your instructions should come in very handy next week when I tackle my first chain and sprocket replacement.....................

Can anyone here recommend a chain a sprocket (front and back) combo, the brand, and the specific item number for a 2006 ZX6R 636?..................im currently running a D.I.D chain with "520VM" stamped on it, and a 15T front and 44T rear sprocket.

Like Rob, im not after the bling factor but do want to have something that would last :-).......................any chain and sprocket advice would be greatly appreciated.

Oh, I was checking this site out to get the stuff.............would these two work for my bike, seems like pretty good price?.....................

I use 530 non o-ring chain - have been known to fit 50 chain (same size) from bearing shops that sell replacement tractor parts  - 1 row of the triple-row primary gearbox chain out of a D9 dozer to be precise ;). This chain is cheap cheap compared to the bullshit mark-ups at dealers and bike shops generally and h/d beyond belief

Rear sprocket is ZX9B, front sprocket is FZ750 with a washer fitted behind it. Both are 530-spec sprockets.

You can also got to 520 conversion if you want to - the instructions are in the thread here :kuda:
