The 7 is due for its 48,000km service (valve clearances) and could do with a tune after the recent floggings at EC, needs tyres, may as well get the braided lines fitted too.

So where is the best place in Sydney, in terms of price and service, to get this done. I am in East, work in city so ...

On the road however, you would find my arse crack settling into the seat of the 7R more than the Gixxer. It has more bottom end and midrange, and a front end just made for bumpy Oz roads. unflappable!! It also looks hot, even today.

Exactly! I have no doubt the Gixxar would beat the old zx7 ...

Ended up getting a proper set from Singleton Motorcycles (had a set in stock) for $20. Seemed like a decent deal.

They never fail to have bargains on stock that they just wouldnt sell many of. I think they purchase and never sell something for a year or two then give it away.

The last thing I got ...

Mate just make sure if ur gonna use only the bolts, u use 8.8 high tensile bolts. They should have an 8.8 stamped on the head of the bolt.

Was intending on getting proper spools online and there must have been a sale on M10's as they were so cheap.

The price the bike shop quoted was $35. This ...

Pick-up spool/knob size - ZX7R 96 P1

Guys

Off hand do any of you know the size of the thread for pick up spools/knobs for 96 P1 ZX7R? I dont have the bike with me to dummy fit bolts at the moment. I have a feeling they are M10's but anyone who definately knows would be a great help.

Additionally if anyone has online access to zx7r ...

There you go.

See the difference may have simply been the shape of tyre itself that gave sharper steering.

Anybody have an answer to my question?

I know the question you're asking however, I'm not a frikken tyre fitter so i wouldnt know, Just giving you the opinion of what I found with the 180 compared to the 190

Settle down!

I want to know if a 180 will make any difference at all!

When you went from 190/50 to 180/55, did you go from ...

The question im asking = is there any difference of a 180/55 on a 6inch rim compared to a 190/50 because of being spread over greater distance.

I have 1 question in regards to this:

since the zx7r has the 6inch rim, most bikes with 180/55 rears a 5.5 inch rim, would putting a 180/55 on a zx7r not improve the turn in?

ie because of stretching the tyre to fit over a wider rim will flatten it?

Just that the 190/55 arent commonly available ...

Pretty sure they are. The first were built late 95 (mine is 12/95) and hence qualifies as the series is based on build date on the chassis.

Time to decide whether I have a crack at this thing

Tyres like the bridgestone bt-002's come with a 190/55 rear. Quicken the steering on the 7 and these are bloody good tyres if your looking for something for track and scratching only.
