I have not been happy with the servicing carried out by my local KAWA dealer so this (36,000km) service I am doing myself.
Will be taking my time and using the genuine workshop manual:
- change oil & filter DONE $106 - change coolant DONE $50
- replace chain & sprockets DONE $195
- clean air ...

Battery was completely gone (had it tested). Bought another one and it started fine. Have it up on stands in my patio so I can work on it after work and get all those little jobs done. Trying to fix that cam sensor/valve cover leak that only occured after its last service. Will do complete fluids ...

I will get a mate to bring over his multimeter & check it. battery is only a bit more than 12 months old, but the bike has not been used much of that time.

Does anyone know why the engine would stall if you disconnect the battery? Tried to start with a battery booster, but as soon as we disconnect it the engine stops immediately.

Yes I did eventually resolve the problem, turns out it was a bad connection. Since then I have had no start problems.
And no I didn't sell it, I still have it. The only problem is I don't get to ride it as often as i would like.

Replaced the battery last night, and now turn the key, fuel pump primes all lights OK, hit the starter button, something goes clunk (solenoid?) and everything just goes dead.
Release the starter button and guages reset and power comes back on. Any ideas on where I should start with my fault finding ...

I have a receipt attached to the owners manual dated March 2007, so its not the original battery.

Just had the neutral sensor replaced (under warranty) and now all is well.

I have done a pretty extensive search on the zx12 website, and found the fault codes etc. The bike must also have a dirty/faulty neutral sensor as the neutral light does not light up sometimes and hence the starter will not crank with the centrestand down and the clutch 'out' even though it is in ...
