Hi Brian,

You were right. It was one of the air box breather pipes. The other pipe was the tank discharge which I probably loosened when propping the tank up to get the battery out.

Issue resolved.

I had a quick look underneath last night and there's two pipes disconnected. I probably caused it when lifting the tank slightly to remove the battery for charging or perhaps they were already disconnected. I just purchased the bike so who knows. The tank discharge outlet has some black tape wrapped ...

I'm new to zxr's and I decided to do a minor service this weekend and change the oil, fluids etc.

While removing the left side fairing a small black pipe fell to the floor. It appears to be some sort of breather pipe and it's about 38cm in length with a slight bend at one end and a clip fitted ...

Hi Jim, no it was purchased new in Melbourne and remained a Melbourne bike.
