stone damage leaking radiator

Hey guys,
I've picked up an 05 zx6r recently and its been awesome, except the owner did a dodgy job on a stone-damage leak in the radiator with some putty and now its leaking very slowly. I'm just wondering if anyone's done a DIY radiator fix or do you take it to the pros. I'm inclined to get it done properly at a radiator shop as opposed to redoing it with more putty, someone mentioned Cairncross in Albion Brisbane, has anyone here had any experience with them before?

I'd say get it fixed properly - can't say where up your way though.
I recently had mine repaired good as new - cost about $90 for the actual repair.

If it's small enough and you have good soldering iron or small gas blow torch and some solder you can fix the problem. But that's for the short term.

Best get a couple of qoutes, first telling them that the tradiator will be off the bike (easer to work with). Should only be about $50 for the job and 10mins.

might wanna flush the cooling system really good to get rid of that putty crap im happy to use it in my shitbox laser that cost me $100, but any vehicle that owes me more than $150 i frankly wouldnt stoop that low

And once it is fixed, Contacy Pontikat, and get a radiator guard. Cheap as chips and looks shit hot!!!

You can always do the dodgy mustard powder in the coolant trick

Old trick apparently...not that I'd actually do it unless I had absolutely no choice...it works like Barrs Leaks...

Hmm, not sure about the mustard powder, or the pepper corns, or cracking the raw egg in their to cook and seal it up I would hate to think what else gets blocked and sealed up with all that stuff in there. I just had it done properly at Simca on the southside, it was a bit messy due to the previous bodgy-up from the previous owner, but its all sorted now. Does Pontikat have a website?

We did it to my mate's 955 trumpy while we were in tassie about 2 years
ago. Stuck in a one horse town miles from anywhere that might be able to repair an aluminium rad. Worked a treat and 5 days later back in melbourne he got it fixed properly . Never leaked during our trip again.
