Also to add, my EL250, LTD450 & my GPX750 *ALL* have/had a 27mm socket on the rear. So i think it's pretty safe to guess yours does too.

Nope not 27mm.. :?

Measured it for him and it is 32mm or 1.1/4" with my vernier, in fact everyones bikes all Ninja's on thursdays ride except Rusty's ZZR600 were 32mm with a hollow axle bolt (Dia'24mm bolt with a M24x1.75mm thread). The ZZR has the 27mm nut and a solid axle bolt, was the same 27mm nut on my old ZZR1200 I think.

Also Mick, that seems strange your old 9 had a 27mm nut when Pontikats although being the last model 9r produced has a 32mm nut, are you sure mate about the 10 as well?
I would like to say ALL Ninja's were created with a 32mm nut, and all ZZR and GPX had a 27mm nut, handy info if it were true. 8)
