I have a set of new Pilot roads on my ZX9R, they were on the bike when i brought it.
How do people rate them by comparison to Pilot sports or Dunlop D208's both of which i have used on other bikes with no negative feelings.
The Pilot Roads however...aren't filling me with confidence, you know that feeling you get when you tip into a turn and the bike seems to keep going straight before it grips and turns.

I have never tried piliot roads but i have had piliot sports they came oem on the 636 i have a good rear in the garage and the front went on rustys zzr600.
Ask about mick the tyre magicians low low prices and i think the prefered tyres are bto14 bridgestones on 9rs althogh i gont mind a pilot power on my 6r.

They are great for wear, maybe you have a flat spot around the center of the tyre, I would never put one on the front of a Sports bike tho.

cant say abt the road versions, but the sports were kick arse, and the POWER are even better!!
the 208's were shit compared to these....
the bt012 arent too bad either..sumwhere between pilot sport and power...

Well I can tell you the powers are heaps better than the D218's that come on the 10...a run up honeysuckle shredded the 218's but the powers lapped it up

Further to what I said above, I had a Pilot road on the back of the ZZR1200 and I swore by it at the time, no problems at all, might be a different story in a colder climate as the rear did slip a little in the wet but very rarely without being on purpose.
I also know of one person who has Pilot Roads on a 9R and another guy who had a 1200cc naked with them front and rear and they did say in the wet the front can slip on white lines and dirty pavements more so than others.
Confirms my thoughts on them, great long distance commuting tyre but a weekend warrior sports tyre they are not.

Go for a set of Power's, you know it makes sense

kaz has the pilot road and a couple of people who went to tassy had the pilot roads and i've heard positive feedback.

thanks for the feedback everyone!
I'm a sports rider, so I'm chasing grip.
My ZX636 has pilot sports which I'm looking forward to scuffing the pussy shine off ( i brought it as a wreck so i haven't ridden it yet).
If the sports hum on the 6 i'll put one on the front of the 9 and go from there.

you have a 9R and a 6R, you capitalist!!

oh by the way do you mind if I have one, either or not fussy

If it`s grip your after try a sticky tyre like Pilot race, rennsport or racetec.

sorry nobikeatall
I only meant to buy the ZX9R but one of my work mates crashed his uninsured ZX636 with 1600km on it and was looking set to give it away without even trying to fix it!
So rather than watch him get robbed i brought it!
I can sell it to ya for $11k
just kidding, its a bit rough for that kind of money!

After today I can say that the Pilot Sport on the front works pretty well. For me, anyway.
It's a bad comparison, I know, but my previous front was a D220, which was NEVER right for the bike. The Pilot Sport is far more forgiving, warms quicker and has bags more grip.
I don't ride real hard, though.
