I just bought a copy of the English mag "Fast Bikes". I was looking through and stopped at "letters to the editor".
Here it is:
BIG DOWN UNDER
The february issue has only just arrived at my local newsagent via snail mail, and after reading your editorial "High horses riders", I felt obligated to respond. I have never read an editorial from Fast Bikes that was so correctly written and, lacking other words to describe it; moving.
I am a motorcycle Police Officer and an avid biker on my own time. I am well aware of what a bike can and can't do which is why, when on the open roads, I have always allowed a more relaxed attitude towards fellow bike riders when they might be pushing the speed limit a little. If I see a group of riders who have stopped for a drink or a rest, I'll stop and chat to them about what roads are good or dirty and just give them a friendly warning if their tyres are getting a little bald etc. I'll let them know to be careful and not to speed through towns or residential areas, I won't tolerate speeding where children or pedestrians are at a greater chance of being injured. I believe that if the government was serious about preventing motorcyclists from speeding 'in caring for their safety' they would subsidise track days to allow enjoyment of this sport in a safe environment.
I'm not an advocate of speed cameras simply because they hold no discretion whatsoever. I know that some motorcyclists, when travelling towards forward-facing speed cameras will speed up or pull wheelies etc, but it's because of this that our gavernment and others down under are now considering front reg plates on motorbikes.
So, in the interest of our enjoyment and yours in pommy land, don't be a complete f***wit and ruin it for everyone else.

Jesus, is that the only way you can get on a bike in cops?
I have read the "honour roll" on the NSW Police force site, it seems your risk of being killed on duty is ten fold greater on the bikes? If that is so, and if its true NSW only has about 24 bike coppers... you should move here, apparently you won't have to wait too long.

Wish we had more cops like him up here. I always slow down through towns having 2 kids myself but on the open road it's time to let her run.Being nabbed by this bloke would make a nice change to the duty bound "mr.Plods" we have here. I reckon good on 'im

No one wants to leave. It's a bloody joke. Think I'm gonna have to start knocking some off in my car.

I'm pretty sure he didn't mean doing 140+ through the twisties when he said "pushing the speed limit".
