*snip*
Mick - my mates 10R came with a damper straight from CMCC, I think the bike absolutely deserves one - but I'm spewin' - there is no-where on the 12 for a head-stem mounted damper, like the versions on the 10. Not Happy Jan

Have already had 1 slapper, out on the Uriarra Crossing road, heading uphill Lhander, there are some evil roadzits there, and bugger me, it did the big slap !!! will need a damper sometime (soon).
cheers

Maybe a
Scotts rotary damper could be the go? (no I do not own the company sadly)
Just a suggestion, however I know most other dampers use the "ashtray" or fuse cover on the tank as a mounting point but the Scotts one looks like it mounts differently...

I didn't think they were that tricky around the headstem that you couldn't mount one, what a bummer. Maybe the Scotts is the go, as Scotty37 who isn't really a Scotty suggested.

I will have a look at the scotts damper, I have a feeling that they are more suited to dirt bikes - they require a welded-on piece to the headstem, which fits into the actual damper unit, and provides the connection between moving top clamp and a fixed point of reference on the bike - no harm in checking them out. I will suss out the US site and see what- if anything- they do over there.....

the zx10r i took out didnt have one...i dont think it was as bnad as ppl make out..

quickchick - neka is on the money, if you aren't regularly getting tank-slappers or having those 'moments' on bumpy roads at high speeds, then a damper is not really needed on your 636. The ZX10R I had a test-fang on really needed it, but more because of the road conditions around here, and especially if you ride at +200 on a regular basis. They are basically a mandatory piece of equipment at these speeds and on crap roads.
cheers
