Insurance, who are you with?

Wed Jul 13, 2005 10:39 am

G'day guys,
Just wondering if anyone looks after us?

I had no problems with Arista on my last bike, and Swann have been good for the current one.

AAMI is one of the cheapest options available to under 25's on bikes, and I have not had trouble with them concerning cover or repair work, they have always looked after me, however they have an interesting write off policy. The damage on your vehicle (car or bike) has to be 75% of the insured value... my ZZR was insured (for some reason :? :?: ) for $9700, with a redbook value around $7500 and the final damage bill was about $6500 or thereabouts. So... no write off, but great repair job. I am not sure that it is worth the premium saving, particularly for our car... probably is on the bike since they are $1000 per year cheaper than anyone else.

Just thought I'd let y'all know so you can make an informed decision. -J.

I'm with QBE at the moment, have been with Arista before. Basically you just need to shop around for quotes and get what's best for you

Have been with QBE last year and this year - couldn't tell you how good they are as I've not needed to use them

I'm with Arista on the over 40's not commuting deal and also non registered dirt bike deal and they've been reasonable (about $300 cheaper on the ZX10 than any others I got quoted on). I haven't had to make a claim though.

As Mick said, ring around, the rates seem to change every year.

I use Swann
have done so for the past blimey.. 10 or more years
good service, good price and helmet cover (up to $500)
is included.
and
for the one claim I have had (my Toyrun 'off' last year)
it got fixed ..no questions asked, fixed better than it was
they are happy with an agreed value too (good with older bikes)

I have compared them with AAMI (the cars are there) RACV QBE
and they remain the cheapest...

hth

cheers

I am with QBE after a couple of years away. They took my car rating 1 into play. I shopped around here in QLD and they proved to be over $300 cheaper then Swann or suncorp. No claims yet but for the money I paid I am happy with the peace of mind. That includes 2 years replacement (new bike) and no claim protection on 1 claim/year. Happy Jan

Best so far is $1,171 for Western QBE.

Swann $1,919.00
NRMA similar at $2,134.51
Suncorp $1,306.00 but don't do Shitney.
GIO $5,567.55 with 2 yr replacement, but I reckon I ought to get a new bike every four yaers if I take that on!.

Who is Arista? Can't find a listing of their number.

I'm with Arista.

Wed Jul 13, 2005 2:50 pm

Suncorp.

I'm with NRMA, they took into account my cage experience. I'll probably change next year to someone else now I have my full NCB.

I was with Famous Classic with my 03 636 and after my off they were really good.......replaced the 03 with an 05 as it was less than a year old, covered my helmet and Micron pipe no questions asked and I was only off the road about 3 weeks. Their premiums were way cheaper than anyone else could get near too.

When I went to re-insure the new bike though they said I didn't meet their guide lines.....can't blame them really.

This time I went with QBE.....they started me at at rating 3 because of the claim and 2 weeks later I get a call....."Hi Mark, I think we owe you some money...."
They gave me my rating 1 back and refunded the difference!!!
