Tue Jul 12, 2005 12:44 pm

has anyone here ever put their zzr250 on the dyno?

i'm interested in seeing what the graph looks like, and might even blow $60 for kicks (yes $60 so i can get a graph that says my bike is WEAK :D )

any other dyno graphs would be interesting too

the place i was planning to go to is:

MTM MOTORCYCLES PTY LTD Unit 3/ 6 Virginia St Geebung 4034
(07) 3265 4966

yeah i'm hoping it doesn't go *BANG!*

lets say i take it up to 15000rpm on the road. that should be ok for the dyno too right? zzr250 power peaks at about 12500 anyway i think.

Don't expect much, I'd say about 40 for a very good one.

Will it actually turn the roller.....?

It will be less than 40 ponies (well foals really) because the higher strung 400 4cyls are making this side of 60. Maybe it would be better to measure the output in watts?????

hah, dont be mean Hemi, i mean i'd love to see a postie bike on there purely for the HELL of it *grin*

I think they make around 29hp the cbr 250s make 40 if its a good one, never tested a zzr but gnomes seems to go ok and with the punishment that one has copped i would be suprised if it blew up on the dyno.

Tell them you just want to stick it on and give it a run or i think last year at the bike show they had the dyno shootout for 20 bucks a go, I might even stick mine on at that price. :D

Tell 'im e's dreamin'! These things don't even have 40 at the crank!

yeah my book for my 2001 bike says the engine is 36hp, but i see in the service manual that 1999 and older bikes have slightly different engine timing advance so peak at 39hp.

apparently cbr250r is 40hp and cbr250rr is 45hp... at engine i guess. curves quite different i imagine though

My 2001 dyno'd by Tony Boggart's at 27hp@12000 with a custom exhaust(result of an acco, less dollars than factory) and not only read but dyno tuned(shimmed my main jet 1 shim, don't worry I don't know either) as opposed to 36hp@12500 claimed by Kwaka. The factory claims are almost always exagerated   and are also at the engine. Don't worry about the mighty ZZR  lunchin' it on the dyno as any good operator will assess the bike before doing a reading (condition of- chain/sprockets, rear wheel bearings, oil and coolant levels and any uncharacteristic engine noises) and won't go ahead if there's a risk. So as long as she's tip top you're laughing, go for it Mikk. I'll try to find my graph and post it.

Strap-on
