Yeh Ive got the same bag as Miss ZZR - no complaints about the bag, but they're the clips I mentioned - watch em, cause I found they just don't stay clipped together.... pull on them and see how easy they unclip..

I have a Gearsack rack and bag. Getting a bit old and saggy but it's still waterproof. Fits a fair bit in, too, although Brett's Ventura fits more ...

Thanks everyone, lots to consider there!

Karen and Robyn, do your bags make it hard to get on and off the bike at all? What is the capacity? I have one of those 30 litre ventura aerospada bags that I use every day, but it's not big enough for all my girlie travelling gear ;)

Easy as unclipping the 4 clips to remove it, takes 5 seconds. Capacity is 36 litres if I remeber rightly. It has the carry handle, but sometimes I use the long strap over my shoulder if its too heavy.

hiYa Colette,
Sorry I'm not sure bout the 'capacity' of the bag - it is exactly the same as shown in Miss ZZR's pic though.
There was ample space for 2wk tour of Tassie, but gotta admit I also wore a backpack.
No probs getting on and off - seems a bit awkward at first but seriously, not an issue. In actual fact when you remove your luggage you forget you don't have to 'lift ya leg' so high - just habit after a couple of days! 8)
Easy to put on and take off too. No complaints with this bag except 'watch those clips' Feel free to come over and have a look. :D

Hi Colette... have you looked in your local handbag shop? I picked up a pair of cute "waterproof saddle bags" (read: vinyl handbags, hooked under seat) Look girlie as hell, hold a 6-pack of coopers red in each one, cost me a sum total of $14. They survived my off without a scratch, so I'm going to say they are hard wearing and sturdy. You can probably pick up a bigger pair, as I believe that I have a total capacity of about 12 litres between them. -J.
Edit: Spellign. <-- Edit 2: Damn.

Touring luggage

Hi Colette,

I've got a dri rider magnetic tank back which has lasted for a few bikes, I don't use it much anymore because it doesn't fit too well on the 636 as it get in the way. I also have an oxford tail pack which is great I use it lots, neither are waterproof though but both have a "raincoat".

Oxford also make soft panniers for sports bikes, I've not seen any in the flesh though. I got the tail pack from MAW at castle hill the oxford site is http://www.oxprod.com/

I use a ventura seat pack, they come in two sizes, you can get them a freedom at brookvale for about $100.00 fully waterproof.

Someone mentioned Givi bags- got them on my 1200 and they great- but EXPENSIVE- somewhere around $1000 to suit your bike. (mine were thrown in with the bike when I bought it.) For a topbox I have a Rjays topbox, which is a good, cheap copy of the larger Givi- and costs around $130- it can hold a helmet, maybe two if they are small, and of course you can lock your stuff in it. Great for the money. If you feel like it you can hook up some LEDs in the red brake light thingo and have a high-level brakelight too- I felt like it and it works good too. Comes with the mount- just got to fabricate something to bolt it to your bike.
