an action like patting the ground to indicate to wipe off speed, not necessarily just for cops, but for roadworks or a bad surface or something like that.
if u want someone to pass u, just waive your right hand from the back of the bike to the front.
lets not forget it doesn't hurt to pull over, let everyone regroup and talk about what's coming up ahead.

nah mate, dont take ur right hand off the loud handle..if sum1 is following, trying to get round u, they may b close-ish and ur sudden slowing MAY cause an ass ender...keep ur throttle hand on the bike...
i use the foot to point to danger too, left foot unless the shits on the middle of the road..most of its common sense...heres sum of mine..

* pat tank-fuel stop
* gesture drink- stop for a drink/rest
*gesture ciggie- smoke break
* grab goolies- that wheelie was botched
*shake head- thats was bloody stupid
*tapping feet on pegs-im getting excited,or singing in my head (ussually the same 2 lines of a song cos that all i can remeber)
*move over to left of road & stick right leg out- go round me
*gesture throttle movement- lets have a go
*shrug- i dont care, lets just ride
*gesture boobs-did u see the rack on that chick..

the scary thing is, any1 whos ridden with me knows ALL of these are true...

And if you're the only smoker in the group, the rest give you the finger.

A couple I use are:

- Wave left hand low behind my back and towards me - sit behind me, try and follow. (Picked this one up in .de)
- Poke side of helmet with index finger - Use your fucken head.
- Left hand with fingers extended and thumb moving up and down to join them (same as that which is universally used to mean "talk", but looks more like a crocodile chomping) above head - speed camera ahead. (Commonly used by the motorcycle Police)
- Arm out and hand opening and closing from fist to outstretched hand - Your indicator is on.

The Object on the Road leg signal; is pointing the leg straight out at the object/s; sand ,diesel, rock, Kangaroo, Cow or whatever.
The overtake me this side, is done by moving leg from back to front more then once, on the side you want to be over taken on.
Keeps both hands on the Bars which is useful, especially on the track.

They should & usually do look completely different from Behind.

Still a few more to come yet, keep thinking guys.

RG I'll borrow a couple of yours mate thanks champ, good stuff.

Cheers Brett

Left hand raised above head and brought down to waist level whilst holding thumb and first forefinger out but closing them on the way down whilst opening little finger and then moving from back to front whilst lifting right foot up and out from bike then leaning head to right hand side and turning to face behind means nothing at all.

It seems everyone has an opinion and great ideas, remembering them all would be hard however most are self explanatory. I for one feel the left hand is the best way of signalling as foot/leg movements can be misinterpreted and the right hand is needed for control. The Ulysses does not have a set hand signal regime as such from what I can remember but do use many signals listed above and point to hazards in general.
They are very addiment that people stager themselves on the road for safety and no-one passes the ride leader/organiser, same for dropping back past tail end Charlie if they decide to leave they are deemed out of the ride and won't be a concern for the organisers. Tail end Charlie usually knows the route as well and possibly has radio or mobile phone contact with the leader if an incident or breakdown occurs.
They also frown upon dangerous activities and manoeuvres, but I still like the tail end Charlie bit with big groups so no-one gets lost or left behind, corner marking I like as well- usually the rider behind the lead rider is instructed to have the correct indicator on and to illustrate the turn (lead rider marks the spot by pointing), then they re-join the rear of the group as tail end Charlie arrives, so the next rider behind the leader does the same and so on..

I got some good tricks when im riding with duane

if hes too close i let go of everything all hands and feet and he thinks im going to crash and backs off so he doesnt get involved in the crash :D

If i dont like the way he is riding i stop

Its funny how even with a helmet on he can still tell when he has REALLY PISSED ME OFF....

Im still trying to learn the real signals - i dont often get the overtake me one yet i guess that will come one day right? hhehe

I think the most important thing to signal is danger to your mates and to thank the car drivers that do the right thing and try to help you out - because they are few and far between

uhh jess, dont take your hands off the bars. at least keep ONE on there.

if he gets too close, use your left hand and pointing it down with the palm flat & horizontal push back towards the rear of your bike making "get the f*k back" motions.

When leaving someone at the end of the ride, I like to stand up and salute left handed

some great ones, i always use the tank one for petrol, and i've always wanted to know how to tell someone they didn't stop their indicator.

mate i like to keep my hands on the bars when in the twisties etc, so i use my foot to gesture...if my foots moving, it means go round..if its just pointing it means look out...

*if i stand up & adjust mt tackle-means i think im rossi
*if i pull up beside u & start nodding- it means keep clear, shes goin up
*thumbs up- is everything ok/thanks
*both hands clenched into fist, place hands at waist & lift- lift ur shirt love & show me ur tits

i like to sign off each ride with a wave or a hand shake....watching 2 guys ride down the freeway 1m apart shaking hands (GP style) is a lil exciting for sum of the learners ive ridden with tho...lol
