Viking Cycle - Warlock Jacket Review - Part 1.

Postby MadKaw » Wed Aug 14, 2019 12:07 pm

I Received an e-mail from Bryan at Viking Cycle a couple of weeks ago and he asked me if I would like to review one of their jackets, obviously I said "I'd love too".. :-)
I hadn't heard of Viking Cycle before so I checked out their web site and had a look through their products. They have some nice looking gear at very reasonable prices and some discounts happening atm.
They are a US based company but have a distribution centre near the home of motorsport in NSW, yes - Eastern Creek.

The jacket they sent me is a Warlock Silver Mesh lightweight summer jacket - https://au.vikingcycle.com/collections/ ... et-for-men

The jacket arrived this morning, less than a week from my e-mail from Bryan, so a first tick for fast delivery.
Packaged in a box, not loose or in soft bag, so another tick.

Had a quick look at it and it has some nice features, its very light, has plenty of pockets, a zip out liner, headphone holes and plastic guides for cables and has armour in the right places.
My only initial concern is the armour in the shoulders and elbows is a bit on the thin size compared to my other jackets, but I guess that's the trade off for a very light weight summer jacket.
I will do a comparison with the Joe Rocket summer jacket we have later.

That aside it fits well, is VERY comfortable and looks pretty good.

More pics and further review to come - when it warms up.. :-)

BTW - Viking Cycle are having a winter sale ATM with 15% of - or 17% if you sign up with your e-mail. Free delivery in Aus too.!
Make sure you mention KSRC if you contact them....

Went for a quick spin yesterday.
I can confirm it is comfortable more so than most of the other textile jackets I've worn. Very flexible and light almost like a casual jacket.
Hopefully this is not at a cost, as I don't intend on testing the protection quality..... :D
Its also a little shorter in length than my other jackets, I don't mind this as it doesn't bulge up at the front when sitting on the bike, but your shirt sticks out the bottom. Could probly use an extended piece on the back the jacket - but no biggy on the z1000 - but could ride up and expose butt crack on a more ass up, head down sportsbike.. :-)

Looks like pretty good quality. My old jacket is very heavy. Might need to look into this. :D

Received this jacket today at a cost of $108.00 .Yep its short at the back but so am I,could be a little longer even for me .Armour is crap infact its like some sort of squishy sponge.
Removable liner has to have the sleeves removed from elastic buttons no big deal just a little fiddly .Just after I bought this a shark mesh jacket came up on my feed BUGGER oh well shit happens.I have no idear where the $65.00 posted comes in I questioned them and mentioned ksrc to no avail.First time I have purchased a jacket or any motorcycle gear on line apart from tyres it will be my last.

How did it come to $108.? did you get the one I linked in the lower post with the $65 reference - the Ironside jacket - (not the one I got).?

I put one in my cart at $69.99 and says free postage. Thats not using any discount code (currently theres a 17% for signing up or 15% spring15).
I did see it adds $7 in taxes though - so $77 with no discount code. (-17% should come to $64)

The shoulder and elbow armour is some rubbery stuff, similar to others I have seen but is a little thin.. - see pic below, not sold on it at all.. Supposedly CE approved.. It moves around a bit for my liking too..
