Newbie Introduction

Postby justjosh » Thu Aug 08, 2019 12:50 pm

Hey everyone thanks for having me on your site.

About me...
Bloke, 44 years old, married and 5 daughters
Yep 5 of them

I used to ride dirt bikes as a teenager but haven't ridden for 20+ years.

How i got here...
Some might call it a mid life crisis. I call it finally doing what i really wanted.
I bought a 1989 ZXR 250 a week ago.
It was cheap because it isn't running
It's 100% complete but hasn't been turned over for a few years.
I was a bit naive thinking i would put fuel in it and a new battery and i would be riding it the next day.

So i stripped her fairings off and discovered that bikes this old have lots of opportunities to spend money on them.
So far i have
Empty tank with surface rust inside tank and possible a few pinholes that will leak petrol
A throttle that wont turn
Possibly front brakes seized

I came here so you enthusiasts will convince me to fix her.
Otherwise i will put her back together and sell her again.

Welcome aboard...

Can't help you too much with the ZXR, but at least it will give you something to keep you occupied...
Not like you have much else to do .. :-)
5 daughters ... wow... Good luck with that...:-)

Welcome

How do you have time, or money for that matter, to do anything with 5 girls

Keep it and rebuild it, even if it costs heaps it will keep you locked away in the shed and bring you some sanity

Enjoy
