I got pretty lucky on the day - it was high-20's temp, not a whisper of a breeze - all done outside of course ;) - and I did a light sand between coats, with maybe 2 hours between each coat ? Ended up with about 4 good coats all up.

cheers - one of the most successful sidecars in Oz in the 70's was a z900-based chair, running Webers. It hammered. A few people have said the same thing to me about the induction note - apparently it is way different to normal slide carbs. I better make sure my tackle doesn't get sucked into a velocity stack !!

time for an update on the old dunger 7/11.......

due to the number of rounds close together over the middle of the year - I decided to park the Dellorto conversion until I had some time to set it up properly. The carbs fit the motor fine and have plenty of clearance to the frame, but fabricating a good throttle mechanism needs a lot more time. The first version does work but the throttle action is pretty heavy......I want a nice light throttle.

In the meantime though - the old girl has been entered in every round this year with the PCRA and has been as reliable and solid as you could want. The 29mm smoothbore carbs that used to be fitted to the Shadowfax are now doing the business on the 7/11 and are great.

I have had 1 big off at Eastern Creek when the exhaust system decked on that bump coming out of Turn 2 - it hit pretty hard, lifted the back end straight up and spat me off big-time in Rd 2. Apart from that - everything else has been fine ......

Here are a couple of pics of the old girl in action at the last round. Looks OK compared to how it did when it was first built   and at the moment - this bike is now sitting in 1st place in the PCRA Period 5 Unlimited class :kuda: with 2 rounds left to run....wish me luck.

Rd 4 at South Circuit......

Its all about the trophies

So the old 7/11 has been going well this year - 2 meetings left, both at Wakefield Park. Hopefully I should get some decent results there as well and finish the year off with some success........

Next years race bike is already on the stands in the 4th - preperations have commenced !! The 7/11 will be getting a rest next year.

well its almost time to update this thread for the last time - well the last time for a couple of years anyway...... ;)

The old 7/11 managed to drag my sorry arse all year, through a complete season of PCRA racing, Period 5 Unlimited. It never once stopped running at any round this year, except for the one time I threw it down the road at Eastern Creek........

The motor was still crisp this morning at Wakefield Park, where the old shitter lined up for its last club round this year - having banked points at every round without ever being the quickest P5 bike on the track. This meant that I ended up today - with a 54 point lead going into the last round !

Despite the shittest day racing ever - due to dropping 2 sparkplugs on the 3rd lap of the first leg and recording a DNF and twp DNS for the meeting - I have managed to stay out in front of the class and will pick up the Period 5 Unlimited trophy at the Club presentation night next month :kuda:

Really happy with that, it pays to have a good reliable Kawasaki under your arse

No pics from today - but in the pits with MickC, Leanne and Rob as usual - we all had a good day out.

Pics from the presso night to come. The bike finally did what I built it for back in 2008 :kuda: :kuda: :kuda:

next year - back out on an RD350LC to give Nelso and Chops some hurry-up .....

thanks Rob :) been a great season and overall I am really happy with how the old 7/11 went during the season. It was never the fastest P5 bike on the track but it wasn't the slowest either - what it did have was reliability :kuda: :kuda:

Have to say I am looking forward to riding a smaller bike next season  the P6 250 Production class in 2014 was fun on the FZR250, I think the P5 350 class will be even better.
