Want to buy something - post here

Hi all, I'm going to be in a position to get a relatively cheap road bike at the end of the month, so this is a good time to start looking. I'm keeping an eye on the usual places, but thought I'd ask on here: is anyone looking to sell their Zephyr ?
I'd prefer a Sydney / NSW location, but will consider travelling for the right bike and price.
Cheers,
Brian

I hope you find one - these bikes are getting harder to locate, the best ones are the models with the spoked wheels

Cheers Gos, Although I've gotta say that spoked wheels don't do it for me', I'm definitely a mag kind of guy

Did they even import the RS models here ?

yeh they did for at least one year in both the 750 and 1100 capacities - but the bulk of them are mag-wheel versions so you should be able to find one of these

I often thought about picking up one of the 1100's.......they look the goods

. Funny thing with the 750 models is that they actually still use much of the same engine architecture as the old z750's from the early 80's. They changed some of the outer engine castings - but a 4-1 exhaust from a 750 Zephyr - will bolt straight up to a 1981 z750 !

Yes, and of course an early Z750 is basically a stretched Z650.
To be honest, I''d be happy with either; I prefer the fact the 1100 has its own identity where the 750 looks very, very close to a Z1, but they both look great with a bit of work done - some absolutely spectacular customs coming out of Japan in both sizes. 750s, when you find them, don't seem to go for a great deal, whereas a lot more is being asked for the 11s. I'll be interested to see what, if anything, comes up over the next few weeks.
Cheers,
Brian

Owned a '91 750 Zephyr - first model released - for 12 years; great little bike and ultra-reliable - a little short of low-range grunt but pulled redline in top no problemo. Sold mine in 2011 to fund the Z1-R project. Not too many Zephyrs around now, although there was a very nice 1100 for sale in last month's Justbikes for $3,500 - great buy!

Wow, that is a deal ! I haven't seen anything at that price advertised elsewhere, I guess its gone. I wonder if Just Bikes is online ?

Thanks Tim, I did see that one (went looking for Just Bikes on the WWW). Shame its not a bit closer to Sydney, or I'd be very interested.

Thanks for confirming it was a 750 - sorry about the wrong info! "Closer to Sydney.....!" I'd spend a few hundred $$ to chase that one down if it was still for sale as they're as rare as rocking horse shit these days.

. I travelled a long way to get mine and was bloody thankful I did!

I hear you, but I'm not sure I want one enough to warrant a 1600km round trip. Think I'll wait to find something closer to home. Alternatively, if its still there in a while, perhaps the owner will be amenable to an appropraite price reduction to cover my time and travel costs.

Brian

I'm heading to Sydney next month. Could turn it into a road trip if that would help. I'd have to ride it down through as we'll already be towing a car down for Motorex.

Thanks JB, very kind of you to offer, but I wouldn't buy sight unseen, and if i go up to look at it, I'd also bring it home.
