For those have a GoPro mounted to their helmet, I'm interested in where you have them secured. Not sure whether I put mine behind the visor hinge or underneath it.

Just check with your local police first.
I know of 2 Riders in NSW that have had warnings, that had cameras mounted on their helmets.
Regarding the fitting of the camera: there is no literature on fitting them to any road bike helmet that I could find, that renders the use of them illegal. The only thing that I could find was in ADRS Manufacturers don't let any protrusion of up to 5mm on any helmet.

I'm using the chest mounted harness ATM for exactly this reason - feral HWP - only problem is the very dark tinted screen which obscures about a quarter of the field of view.

Thinking about mounting it on the screen but that then loses the POV effect a bit

Been at least 2 riders booked in Vic. Plod allege it makes the helmet non compliant.

For what its worth........

I fixed mine in the center on top of the helmet. Set back a bit so the visor still opens.

I still get a full field of vision including hands on controls, gauges and a fair way ahead and to the side.

I had it on the side but the drag become uncomfortable. Where it is at the moment causes very little drag.

As for the legality, I ride 55 ks to and from work every day, see police most days, particularly on the Hume on the way to Campbelltown and not had a problem.

LOL it's out the back of Canberra, called Naas rd, got a dirt road at the end so it's one of the less travelled roads and has some really nice corners, only catch is alot are blind and there is plenty of wildlife. Takes me about 2m from my house to the start of the road and then it's about a 45m round trip (there and back) great for a quick sunday blat

On the helmet is ok for regular road speeds, but start to build your neck muscles at faster speeds. I have tried the Teletubbie mount (top of the helmet) but prefer to mount it on the side of the helmet. I put the stick-on mount under the visor pivot which puts the camera far enough forward that you don't get much of the helmet in the view; unfortunately you can occasionally hit you shoulder on the mounting frame if you tilt your head to the side. Once you get out of the tight corners and hit the fast sweepers, you will want to mount it to the bike though as the wind drag can be quite bad at higher speeds.

Fixed mount to the bike also leaves you free to enjoy the scenery (especially here in the 'gong in summer) without having your footage pan left and right dramatically as something catches your eye

The camera was flat today when I went out. Doing a track day at Symmons Plains on April 27 so I'll try it then.
