Another Rebuild Project - GSXR-1000 K8 **COMPLETED PICS** !!

Sun Mar 02, 2014 9:53 pm

Hi all,

Well the 2013 Triumph 675 did not last very long, it was an exceptional bike to ride and had the potential to be very fast on the track (which I experienced myself at Philip Island over 2 days testing and tweaking the suspension) but now I have decided to rebuild a Suzuki GSXR 1000. I have done a GSXR750 once before, but this time I thought I would give the big one a go and do a 1000. 8)

Of course I have spent a few good nights totally stripping this beast down and cleaning, replacing parts, sorting the electrics out (as some previous owner just had no idea how to set a bike up correctly) and we are up to this stage at the moment. It's looking very good, nice and straight and is humming along beautifully.

This one has a full akrapovic twin exhaust (which I really like the look and sound of), and all of the track mods I would normally do, disconnecting the secondary air injection, removing the exup motor, GB racing engine casing protectors, Woodcraft frame sliders, still coming are the shorty levers, rearsets, Cox radiator guard, braided front lines, BMC street filter. It has only done 10,000 k's and sounds great. Just fully serviced today.. just waiting for more parts to arrive..

Here is is to date... more progress pics will be coming..

Love that exhaust.

Yes Baddie.. I also love the exhaust, and it sounds excellent too, not too loud and really balances up the look of the bike :-)

I have progressed fairly quickly on this rebuild.. with almost all of my parts arriving in the same week !! So I will be busy for the rest of this week and the weekend getting everything totally finished... but I am back to the island on Monday and Tuesday for some testing (on the ZX10, then racing the following weekend, so my focus will have to swing onto the ZX10 for a week or so until round 1 is complete ;-)

But I should have a heap of new pics to post after this weekend.. stand by for more..

Hey all,

I have been working pretty much flat out on the Gixxer over the past week or so, and it's running and sounding really sweet.. ;-) It was one of those weeks that all the spare parts I ordered just seemed to arrive in a couple of days.. It was great !! Got the race glass all fitted and the wiring sorted.. so here are a few more pics before the paint..

More movement on the Gixxer..

I have had the whole front end out, forks completely apart & serviced... Like new but with a few track mods.. ;-) Fitted back with 8mm slid through the top triple clamp.

New brake pads, complete caliper clean / lube & fluid flush (RBF 600)

Gearing is also done, -1 front (steel) & +1 rear (alloy)

Waiting for the race glass to come back from the painters...

Rear shock to come out and service as well, plus 4mm spacer to go in... Then fit it all together with the glass and test ride !!! so only a couple of weeks to go before the test run, hopefully on the 7th of April at the island..

After that I will have to focus on set up and practice at Broadford on the ZX10 for round 2 of the Vic Interclub series...

More updates and pics coming..

Macca :-)

How come you are able to get all this done in less time than it has taken my clutch cable to get here.

In all seriousness it is a very nice looking bike and I bet it will sound amazing
