Baby is scratched :(

Postby ty » Thu Jun 09, 2005 2:01 pm

Why is bright red so hard to see?

Got knocked down by a white van this morning. Nothing too major - some scratches to right fairing where he hit, scratches to left fairing and left engine cover where it landed, and a broken clutch lever (still rideable).

I couldn't believe how little damage there was. But man I went off at the guy. At least he stopped and I got his details and I have a witness. My right leg seemed to cop the brunt of the force, but it was low speed so just a few grazes.

It was another case of someone changing lanes into me without looking properly. Funny thing was I'd been keeping a special eye out as I'd had a few close calls recently. But I just had no warning with this guy.

Getting a quote tomorrow for the insurance. Hopefully I won't be off the road too long for the repairs.

Ty, am sorry to hear that - would expect it in Sydney, not up your way!

I am also sick of people pulling into another lane at the same moment they indicate (IF they indicate at all that is), without even looking and more often than not, while chatting on their mobiles...sooo frustrating! :?

Sorry to hear TY. Glad your OK, champ.

Corrie and I had a moment the other day. This dumb bitch came on the freeway across two lanes and almost took Corrie out. Down the road a bit, the fark head came past us abusing us, calling him a fark wit  I was so close to kicking it's mirror off.

Some people need to pull their heads out of their asses when driving

You should consult a lawyer about your leg as you are eligible to sue him for negligence. He will send you to a doctor and so on...

I just spoke to my g/f a law student and she agrees with me big time.

Thats why you pay the compulsory third party insurance.

And make sure any pain doesn't go away, just yet :)

Oh man, not the 9! Hope you can get if fixed soon...oh yeah I hope your leg isn't too bad either

I had a fully sick hyundai swerve across two lanes to try to get me this morning. Luckily there was a newly constructed bike lane I could slip into while tooting my horn and abusing the moron, then blast away

Bad luck mate, but good thing it was slow - and that you're (relatively) OK!
I agree with mile636, get some medico to look at the whole thing... God knows we all pay enough insurance for it...
Seems like it's the week for morons changing lanes (or is that every week :x ?)

Bugger! You need a little bit of PVC pipe attached to the side of your bike. Mount it vertically and fill in the bottom end so nothing can fall out.

Then, stick a baseball bat in it for just such moments.

Bad Luck TY, glad you're ok.

Good to see you had the peace of mind to throw your leg under the bike to protect it ;)

It actually was Sydney Collette - or more accurately Crows Nest.
Thanks all - I wasn't going to say anything seeing as it was so minor, but then I know I'd get in trouble from a few for not saying anything if it ever came to light ;)

I'm not convinced my leg's worth worrying about - just a graze from the kevlar in my draggins.
But i'll think about it.

mate,
once you speak to your lawyer, it will be more than the kevlar and the pain will also increase...
