Or, as Gos says, the choke circuit might be screwed? However, you said you rode it, so I assume you had backed of the choke by then?? :)

Here's today's findings.

Have traced the problem to the choke on the carb in question.

This has nothing to do with adjustment as as such.....adjusted the three chokes as per manual with 1/8" free play at carb and the synced the carbs using a Uni-Syn.

I've found if I place my finger over the hole with the choke plunger completely removed...she starts to fire, popping as it should.

Have made sure all the choke orifices are clear from blockage.

Don't know what to do from hereon....what do you guys think?

I'm thinking its time to source another carb.......... :D

OK.....it's a bummer of a thing to suggest, but. I would replace to the troubled carb, after checking fuel flow through the new tap and the carb, all the original "old" parts. Mount the carb to the right hand outside cylinder (it sits higher and gives more room to move around) and don't move to any other,it's obviously not necessary to do so. Pull the iridium plugs out,put "normal" plugs in.

Start the bastard as per normal process. If the truobled carb is "working"ok, you now have a good starting point.....Replacing a part at a time and testing each piece with a starting procedure, you should be able to trace the problem within the carb. Don't groan too much, it does'nt actually take that long to do.

Really!!

Lets see what happens.

But when I took it for a test ride it was boggin down badly at low to mid revs....which also suggests it is a pilot jet problem,yes?....

this seems weird.......if it starts and idles well, it would have to be firing on all 3. Bogging down at low to mid does sound like a plug has died ? The pilot jet only works on the low-speed circuit - idle to about 1/8 throttle.

Low to mid is controlled a lot more by the needle.....here is a good chart which explains it better than I can

I started this post well before lunch  and can see that you might have found something with the choke actuator on the dud carb ? Time to source a new carb methinks......

Stu... as mentioned in my original post...have swapped the dud carb on all 3 cylinders with the same result.
Also swapped out other components from the good carbs to the dud one.

On Gos's recommendation checked the fuel flow and made sure the float needle was shutting down correctly..."tick".

Plugs are not the problem..

The reason I tracked it back to the choke was......
Started the bike...manually pulled the enrichment (choke) cable on 1 of the good carbs...result = bike stalled.
Repeated the process on the other good carb...result = bike stalled.
Repeated the process on the dud carb....result = nothing.

Mysterious as it may seem....I'm on the hunt for a replacement carb.
Might have a talk with Kev...maybe he will be kind enough to lend me one of his for a trial ?

I don't think you understand what I'm proposing Dave. But anyway, you appear to have chucked the towel into
the too hard basket. Hope you find a good carb!! :cheesy:

The appologies are mine mate....120k's east + pofta pete should've spelt it out pretty clearly. Just in case you may have forgotten, the hoon upto and down from the tenterfield is still quite invigorating!!
