94 sticker kit

We are restoring a ZX7R L and want to return it to its original colours, is there anywhere that makes full sticker kits, incl all the background colours apart from genuine kits?

What year model ZXR is it exactly & which colours are you after? (ZX7R is known as the 96 onwards models in Aus)

Buying the OEM decals in Aus will be pricey, Probably half the price direct from the USA
Most of the OEM decals should be available if you want it to be original>

Hi, I have a 1994 L2 ZXR750 and had my stickers made by motographix in Sydney. I was the first one to bring in the design for the model I had (purple/oranage/pink) as I had an undamaged fairing. Thanks guys for the info, I spoke to Dan the sticker man in sydney but he said he didnt have what Im after, green & blue. The bike is a 1994 plate but an L model, it must be the transitional year, still a bit confused, it was a black & pink one but I'm going to make it green & blue. If I cant get the stickers I'll just tape it up & paint them on. I'd stilllike to hear anything you have to say, I'm intrigued by the confusion regarding the models. What makes it more confusing the bike has a replacement engine from a wreckers, sold as an L from a 1993. Weve stripped it down & its like new inside, very happy, But weve struck a funny thing with the cams. When we set up as per the book, TDC on #1 & 4 & lign up the ex & in marks on the cams & set them 26 links apart the mark on the exhaust cam is slightly out( doesnt line up perfectly with the top of the head) very odd or is that normal?
Weve checked the chain for stretch but like the rest of the engine its perfect, has anyone struck this before.
I like to know its right before we reinstall it into the newly painted chassis so we arent doing it again. Ive ordered a Haynes service manual from UK but probably take a week or 2 & I'm trying to get her back on the road by Christmas, cant wait getting too excited, its been 18 yrs since I had a bike, now the kids are old enough to do their own thing I'm getting my life back on track.

I have a Haynes manual and funnily enough, the picture in it shows the marks not perfectly aligned. It may be just the drawing, but the one for the zx9 shows them lined up.

Thats interesting, dads doing all the engine work (retired mechanic & a perfectionist, lucky me ) & he isnt happy with the mis alignment, if it is mis aligned.
I'll wait for the manual to arrive & have a look, does it say anything in there as they give advice & other comments if something can be done differently.
If nothing else we'll know if its wrong when we try to fire it up, the 26 links apart requirement should set it right.

No, the assumption is that if your chain is within spec, the 26 links should have the cam in the right spot.

Yes the chain is perfect, I forgot to add that when we lign up the exhaust cam marks the crank mark is out a little bit & we've tried every possibility moving one link back & forward etc etc. We've got is as close as seems possible but all the marks just wont line up. After all this it's possible to be out a link down on the crank as we can end up one side of the crank mark or the other still maintaining 26 links between the cams, we are hoping the crank mark is a bit out but if so which side do we set it to, it doesnt look bent, unlikely as we think this is the first time this engine has been operated on, everything is just too new & clean, all the mating faces look like they just came out of the factory.
The crank mark seems to be right, we can feel TDC with a screw driver & it seems to line up but it a bit of a rough way to do it.

That's pretty much how I did the 9. The picture of the crank timing mark in the manual is taken at an angle and we weren't sure if we should be lining up the centre or the edge. It worked out ok though. It's a Kawasaki.

1993 = L1
1994 = L2
1995 = L3

Thanks guys, the fog has cleared.
The engine's going back in this week & the wheels are done so not long now, we'll have one last look at the timing & then bite the bullet,
Next question is what oil do they like the best knowing that it'll just be a once a month or so weekend pleasure, she's standard except we'll make up a plate to mount 4 inlet pods & she came with a light weight stainless steel exhaust & a carbon muffler. My Haynes still hasn't arrived to see what they recommend, you guys will probably know better by now as she's 18rs old.

mmmm another oil thread... oil preferences are like assholes..
so i will put my 2cents in.

Motul 5100, use it in my 96 ZX7R... 70,000 Ks old, and use it in my 07 gumby track bike, its all its ever had in it from 1st oil change. and never found a reason to change... and most shops sell it, so allways easy to get

Hope you're not planning to ditch the standard airbox ? Definitely not a good idea, the bike needs that cool, pressurised air.

Yes we were sounds like that job won't happen.
Is there anything on the inlet side that can be done to help the engine ?
It came with a UNI FILTER filter but its all degraded, what are the best replacements ? UNI, K&N ?
