It'll be interesting to see what sort of condition they're in when they dig them up. I presume they would've been prepped for a sea journey so they should be good.

Heard about this about 6 months ago...some guy reckoned he knew where they were but didn't know if he could get them without them being snaffled by the govmnt.

Seems he got that fixed... 8)

Be great to see the out come of this story, its great when history is bought back to life 8) .Theres a rumour i heard years ago that the army burried jeeps and other stuff covered in grease and wrapped out near Peak Hill,Parks area but if it was true you would think they would have dug them up by now,but the rumour also said no one knows where excactly.

There's stories about caches like this all over the place.

There are some structures near Lake Bathurst (just up the road from WP and that there is a stash of all sorts of things. The 'official' story is that they were emergency fuel storage tanks in case Au was invaded during WWII.

My hometown is Christchurch and that's where the seppos have thier airbase for Antartica, there' s always been a rumour of tons of brand new tools etc. being buried there ... If they don't spend the budget for one year the next year will be cut, don't know how true it is. :?
