Need help forks are forked

Bit of a story first be patient

Okay, went to lakeside today, was to be my 5th track day, getting tuition and have my suspension set up by matt from champions....did one session and took the bike to matt who tells me there is something really wrong with the forks, like it has been crashed or the oil is to the brim, what ever the case there is no adjustment and he commented that it would be near impossible to ride. Shows how much I know about what a bike should feel like.

Back a bit, bought the bike 2nd hand from Team moto Enoggera, Brisbane (who I hate and would like to use lots of swear words to descibe their parentage etc) who never told me it had been crashed, but shortly after buying had my suspicions when I noticed green under black painted guards etc and after a service was told the rear axle was bent a little which made changing the rear tire difficult... anyway I digress.

Cancelled tomorrow, cancelled tuition and went home to call team moto.. find out monday what they'll do under the extended warranty, fingers crosssed.

Question? been looking at ebay and saw 04=05 forks with ohlins internals for $350ish and was wondering whether these would fit the Gumby, is it worth it, especially considering I couldn't even tell the forks were f@*ked in the first place, well felt strange but I thought that was just me, though I'm thinking when they're fixed I'll be stoner-esque considering they were doing nothing :kuda:

Question ? Will other forks fit, other than $2500 R&Ts,

Question? Does anyone have forks they wish to donate to an unworthy cause?

Any suggestions welcome, actually any nice suggestions welcome :)

Bonus, I got time to spend time with my lovely wife...she's watching me type this.. and looking for a job...perferably one that can pay for forks if team moto does not come to the party

O4-05 forks take different size front axle.
So will not be a direct fit.
More chance with 08-10 forks. Same front axle. But different calipers.

thanks Wattie, I have brembo's P4,s - 108's on the gumby, just pissed at the moment, trying to learn how to ride and discover I have bugger all chance with the way my bike is, really frustrating

Why not get the forks removed and serviced and see when the issue is?
May be a simple case of needing a service and some minor work!?

As for buying forks on eBay, they have the possibility of being in as bad if not worse condition than the forks u currently have!

Not to sound like an asshole, but buying a Racebike from a race team and expecting it not to have been crashed is a bit nieve!

Get them checked out first, may be simple, may not be, as said, buying unseen is prob asking for more trouble.
if u can, pull them out and take them to someone and get checked out.

i havent been home for a long time, so the two i could recomend may not be there anymore. and it sounds like ur on the northside. have a look in the phone book, and if tony armstrong still has springwood sukieee, it would be worth the drive.

bugger mate, hope the rest ok.

Buyer Beware is the term that springs to mind, Hope they do come to the party for you, you could possibly nudge them & let them know that if you were to kick up a stink, social media could be their downfall as bad publicity is never a good thing ;)

Forget social media, start sold "not fit for use', and go the legal government body route.

Team Moto have had a bad rep for years, particularly with their imported from Japan bikes - not sure a social media campaign is the way to go?

Do a Revs check, that will tell you if the bike was a write off or not. That way at least you'll know and can look for other problems aswell.
Usually when you buy from Team Moto, they give you the revs check or that's what they did when I bought my bike from them. I still already done the check anyway.
05, maybe the oil has been in there scince then.

Thanks for all the feedback, waiting for team Moto to get back to me tomorrow and go from there, fingers crossed. Had had quite a few bourbons before beginning my rant on Saturday, a little less cranky and a touch seedy today

Nah, bought them as a gift for myself after eight months in Afghanistan, got home in May. Awesome compared to the standard '06 brakes
