After a slow lowside one of the fairing bolts inconveniently put a hole in the clutch cover (black thing on the left side near the gear leaver) of my bike. Somne oil came out, I am wondering how much of a job it is to fix this? Is buying a new cover and bolting all there is to it or is there anything i should look out for?
Thanks.

So ive got a clutch cover in the mail, just wondering what type of oil is required (just normal motor oil?)

I believe the clutch cover is on the right hand side near the rear brake lever...
The left side is probly the stator cover..
Either way, take it off, check for damage, clean it out, drain the oil, possibly flush it, replace the cover and gasket, fresh oil and see how it goes.
If you think you have any "foreign objects" in the engine it may pay to drop the sump and clean it and and the oil pick up as well as above.

ah ok, yeah wasnt sure. I didnt know there would be oil in and around the stator

definately worth to check for foreign objects, probably a piece of fairing in there

anyone have any ideas of how much one of the stator covers would cost in Australia? I see one on ebay for $150 posted (new oem). cheers

'bout that or more. If you can fill in the hole properly and you're confident in the work performed you could get a carbon cover on it and call it a day. Or if you anticipate throwing it down again then think about a set from NRC or vortex (solid alu ones) or Woodcraft ones which have replaceable skid pads on them, double thickness alu or stainless, get the stainless.
