ZX9R exhaust on a ZXR750?!?

Postby JimZXR » Tue Jul 03, 2012 9:50 pm

Considering that a B model ZX9R engine fits into a ZXR750 frame, would/does the ZX9R exhaust fit onto the 750 motor/bike?

Have spotted a ZX9R exhaust system on eBay but not sure if it'll fit!

It's a track bike, if that helps!

Cheers

Yep, the 9 system will bolt straight on but if it's a 4 into 1 you will lose approx. 10mm of ground clearance due to the 9 motor being 10mm taller, or if you're running a fully enclosed bellypan you might find the bottom of the pipes touches the inside of the 'pan.
If it's an aftermarket system you're looking at, most of them are 4-2-1 type so clearance will not be an issue.
ZX7R systems will also go straight on.

Yep, the Muzzy headers on my ZXR 7/9 Streetfighter came off my roadgoing ZX7 & the Akra headers on my 750 Racebike used to live on a ZX9 B, all the aftermarket systems I've seen are 9 depth so they fit the 750 & 900 engines.

In a word, no.
A mate of mine bought one & it's a copy of the original headers, except that the std set has a divider in the collector to mimic a 4-2-1 system, the Delkevic is a basic old fashioned 4 into 1 type & the I.D. of the primaries is the same as the original set so there's no performance gain.
If I were you I'd hang out for a s/hand name brand set to come up on the 'Bay, just use the stockers until then.

Would a system from a ZX7R fit? Spotted an Akrapovic titanium race system in the UK for $1000 brand new and delivered!
