Postby badruss » Fri Jun 29, 2012 9:48 am

Hi guys, I am looking at a 2nd hand ohlins rear shock on a site from overseas. It says it fits 04 05 06 07 08 kawasaki zx10r zx6r 600rr 1000rr zx636 does that sound right. It is a good price and looks in good nick with remote preload adjuster but wondering if it will fit my 06 zx10r. I did ask the question but seller speaky not english :? so asking for your input.
Thanks in advance

Definitely not..!!

The suspension on the 04 / 05 ZX10's are different.. so is the 06 / 07.. different again... same with the 08 / 09.. I know I had all of these bikes..!! You must get a model specific ohlins shock.. Just because the shock length is the same or the eyelet to eyelet holes are the same, the internals of the shock wont be right. Different strokes / valving that was designed specifically for that model..

The 04 / 05 ZX10 had a standard swingarm, where the 06 / 07 had the underslung swingarm.. might be the same length but the mounting points on the swingarm and frame will be different.. and remember when dealing with suspension, only a mm here and there changes the whole way things work.. you could fit it in and make yourself a handling monster.. :o

Remember it is only good suspension and good rubber that is keeping you on the track / road... Especially if this dude cant speak English.. I wouldnt touch it.. get the correct ohlins shock for your bike... if you go cheap on this, it might cost you your bike or even worse, your life or someone elses.. do it right..

Thanks for the advice, I won't risk it, was only $400 on canadian eBay, in Quebec, have tried to get the model number but no luck. No where near the skill level to require one yet but keeping an eye out anyway :D thanks again :kuda:
