400-18 tyre on a 18 x 1.85 rim?

Postby GuffZ500 » Mon Jun 18, 2012 11:35 pm

Hey folks,

Just picked myself up a 1980 Z500b. Needs a handful of things for the roadworthy, tyres included.

The factory rear tyre is a 375-18, was wondering if I can put a 400 on it? A lot of charts say no, some people say yes.

Cheers.

you can but why would you want to ?

they don't stick any better and it will have slower steering with a fatter rear tyre.

Far better off sticking with the stock sizes on these bikes - just run a 100/90 Sport Demon on the front and a 110/80 Sports Demon on the rear. You will be able to get the pegs on the deck with these tyres and it will also steer pretty sweet.
