Rear flat

Tue Mar 27, 2012 5:34 am

I just put on a new rear Michelin Pilot Power II and had a total of about 300 miles when I ran over a nail. Shit, I never thought I would plug a tire but 300 miles??? I'll report on how it holds up. Cheers!

If it is done properly should be no issues. I have done track days on plugs

I dont know about you but having a puncture that causes excessive wear on the tyre feels like you just got ripped off........plugs should be good if done properly, I rode around on mine for quite some time.

I wouldnt trust those emergency plugs and check your tyre pressure more regularly.

Every time I have used a plug in a tyre - I have forgotten about it until the tyre has worn out !

never had a problem with a plug (touch wood) - still check tyre pressure but not seen evidence of tyres losing pressure from being plugged ?

Dude, unlucky mate. However i have had plugs done by tire dudes and all good for the life of tire. I have also done my own plugs without taking tire off and they too lasted, however i only had about 2K left on the tyre ( i commute and use long lasting tyres pilot rd 2 was the trye)

Thanks for the information. The plug was done by a friend who races motorcycles and he claims he has raced on a plugged tire. Wild Turkey is goooood.

Before I left for Phoenix, I ran out to Evanstan, Wyoming and held it at 120 for about 30 minutes and here I am. I think I'll have a Jim and kill my Granddaughters future husband as I don't like him at all.
