Well, we took the little MV for a spin today - what a brilliant little bike. When I say little I mean in physical size, NOT in the HP stakes.

This bike has some serious poke, in fact I doubt you would need more for the street, and with the aid of traction control you can use all of it. Even today when there were some seriously slippery sections of road. We had the TC set on 2, the second least intrusive setting and getting on the gas hard on slippery wet surfaces resulted in minimal spin and maximun drive  It was very impressive.

Things I dont like can be fixed quite easily, like the mirrors - completely useless. The rear shock could also use a bit more preload for me, but we didnt bother even trying to adjust it. Tim and Rod found the footpegs to be a little small, but they were OK for me. The gear shift would take some getting used to, it doesnt like changing to second with only a few revs on board in city traffic, but first is pretty smooth and there really is not need to change up at the rev's I tried it in all honesty - I was just interested to see what it would do.

I found the seat pretty hard, but quite comfy at the same time, how it would be on a CDT type tour is a quetion I cant answer after an hour in the saddle. I'm going to take my daugters for a spin this arvo - weather permitting - to get their opinion on the rear seat.

The fueling is the best I have experiened on an MV, whilst it IS different to a jap bike it would just be a matter of getting used to the different feel, sometime a little clutch makes it smoother and easier to modulate at low speed. Brakes are brilliant, no issues there. Levers fell easily to hand and the stock handle bars felt really nice. This is the entry level MV but most importantly DOES NOT feel like a cheap bike, as I said to the boys at Bald Hill who all agreed.

What I really like was the engine, pickup is astonishing from just about any revs for a 920cc bike, it revs bloody quick and picks up pace like a bigger bike. Even Frankie had a little spin and was commented on the same and he has a well sorted crim - give you an idea of how great that engine is ;) . Handling also needs a mention, it feels like, turns super quick but fely VERY stable at the same time.

Overall I was very impressed, and after Tim had a go he sent his wife a message saying he was going to buy one - sums it all up really. In all honesty the Value For Money stakes make it even more impressive and if anyone is thinking this may be the bike for them I suggest you contact Justin at Troopers - he has some stock that he would like to move at a pretty special price. ;)

Thanks to Justin and the crew at Troopers, the 1090RR is going to have to be pretty bloody special to top the brilliant 920 ;)

And yes it is a testbike, I have no more room in my shed to fit something on a permanent basis. Tim and I will be doing a full report on the show on Tuesday as well. See ya, got chores to do and then I'm going riding :P Again
