Ant West
I (ANTHONY WEST) will not race in moto gp this year or any other race because I can not find sponsorship to pay the SPEED MASTER team,
Because all teams are asking for money from the riders only the rich can race in motogp / moto2 / moto3,
I can not even afford to ride a year for free,
As i have YET to be payed from my former team MZ Germany Moto2 team.
I had my car mx bike and my house for sale trying to keep the ride and even gave the house as a guarantee if I did not find the money but was not enough.
I will most likely not race any more and will retune back to australia to find a normal job.
Sorry to my fans.

saw it. is shithouse...
my question is: how the hell do you get a ride when you dont have the sponsorship they want?...is this a case of overpromise & underdeliver?... no more rain man..bugger.
maybe someone will pick him up if theres an injury...or he might get lucky and find something in WSBK

This is SO screwed up it defies logic. The whole CRT thing is a crock, I've said so since Day 1.

Sad reality...racing is now big business and it's the mighty $ that controls everything.

Personally I think he should have stayed in the WSS prior to his most recent real foray in MotoGP. At least there he was doing well, and a good season there on a competitive bike would possibly had a decent future in wsbk or WSS.

Brilliant, he can come back to Oz and finally hang up his boots and gloves. But he wont. He will try and source another ride somewhere. It would be great to see him being hosed in the local championship back home too. So it wouldn't matter if he went overseas again or something local. He's still a backmarker now.

Ah well. That was short lived.Ant West.Gone! No money,no honey. Is motor racing across the board headed for a cliff? No one makes money. You have to pay to ride.Yamaha in MotGP can't get sponsors on board.Whats propping all this up?Seems like if you presented the business plan for a race team at a normal company they'd laugh you out of the room.
POTENTIAL RACE TEAM OWNER:"See... we've got some bum who can't ride as well as his cash poor compatriot over there but he has a shit load of money. He rides around near the back of the pack, gets no TV coverage till he falls off.Usually falls off two or three times during the weekend though ,but doesn't finish half the races..What do you think??Want to sponsor my team for a million dollars.. is bargain ...no?? "
Spain has a bit of a sausage factory pumping out riders but their country's gone to hell in a hand basket financially along with most of Europe so are all these riders going to be able to get the bucks to pay the teams who appear to live hand to mouth?

I think you have to look deeper than pure ability. You also need to be marketable, it is not just about the coin you bring with you but also the money you can bring in because of who you are. Take Nicky Hayden, Ducati love him due to the additional sales they get in America with their special edition Nicky Hayden bikes.
CRT has nothing to do with it, people have been paying for rides/ drives since racing was invented. Karl Abrahams current case in point. Stoner to get to where he did had to pay his way in the lower grades. Weber only kept his career going (prior to F1) because some people thought he was worth backing. In the 50s and 60s very few were factory backed, many paid there own way there, at best got the bike cheap and then raced, if they were good enough a sponsor helped them out but essentially they were wealthy people or had wealthy friends. Look at the age of the world champs in the 50s, 60s and even 70s, very few were 20 year olds, they took awhile to get enough cash to race at the pointy end.
Unfortunately for Ant, as good a rider as he is he does not market very well for whatever reason. Hopefully for his sake something comes along

I reckon he might get a ride in Europe somewhere.

makes you wonder tho when danillo petrucci can land a ride in CRT... he's come straight out of superstock 1000

won the championship from memory but still that championship is probably 5th on the list after motogp, superbike, moto 2 and 600 supersport...

Nope, that's been torpedoed too. The team has shunted Westy in favour of Haga, this guy just can't take a trick.

That's good news...lets see what he can do...
