I'm on the wagon again. Started champix (again), hopefully its as easy this time as it was last time. One thing I've found this time though, don't take champix on an empty stomach

they reckon it makes a difference when you eat

yep, champix have some weird side effects on me when taken on an empty stomach, felt like absolute shit, soon as i ate i was ok though.
Good luck Nos, hope it works out this time. This is my first time doing it with assistance of any kind, last time i managed to quit for a whole year just on will power alone, but temptation got the best of me in the end.

just found this thread
well done those who have quit
i quit 7 months ago, after 30 years of 25-40 a day; and not your 'suck yer thumb' 1 mg smokes, i used marlboro reds, or john players.
just got up one day and went "i dont need this shit" and stopped. was a sore and shitty old cunt for about 2 weeks, but things get better over time. coughed up tonnes of shit for about a months too!
and you know, shit tastes better (like beer, never knew how many flaours there are) and longer lasting sex! FMD, shoulda done this ages ago!

The first time I took champix I only had the first pack and just didn't need it after that. I was off them for about 18 months, then my world turned to shit and I started again. They worked brilliantly for me, but I had a mate who tried them and he went bonkers.
I only took one on an empty stomach, took about 10 mins and I was driving the porceline bus wondering WTF was going on. Then it dawned on me. I haven't done that again

So Richo, be a champ and edit your post

I quit almost 2 years now, after 20 years! Bought a book called "The easy way to quit smoking". I didn't take it seriously, actually took me a year to read it, and I only got 3/4 of the way through. At some point it was like something clicked, and I gave up cold turkey.
I'm one of those feral anti-smoker types now... Missus still smokes, she tried shortly afterwards and failed, tried again this year and failed. None of her friends or work colleagues smoke either. I guess you just gotta be ready.
I did put on 20kg though because I discovered food actually tastes good.

Gave it up for 10 years, started again, gave up for 2 years, started again, not a heavy smoker tho, only about 6 a day, sometimes i go all weekend without, mainly smoke at work, must be a stress thing.
