GPz900R Performance Upgrades

Mon Oct 10, 2011 4:37 pm

Just wondering what can be done to upgrade performance in my Gpz? It has Staintune mufflers and the rest is bog standard. Any bolt on goodies that should be considered without boring out etc which i do not want to do.

If it's an earlier one, 17" wheels is a great start. Then the brakes and suspenders next. Last would be the motor. But, when you do that bit, just listen to Goz, he has forgotten more than most know about Kawasakis from 1969-1986!!!!! :) :)

So is the later GPz 17" wheel and forks a straight bolt on bolt off system or should I be looking at teh wheel/front end of another model? What brake conversion is recommended without going too over the top.

Marty you always say the nicest things

Preacher - you can bolt up a complete 17" front end to your Geep9, just need to find one. As far as a brake *conversion* is concerned - are you currently out-braking the OEM brakes ? These brakes can be upgraded quite easily with just the addition of EBC HH-rated pads, braided steel brake lines - and if you really want to get 2-finger braking - use a 19mm radial m/c from any late-model 600/750/1000 yammie or suzuki. The calipers & discs don't really need to be upgraded, and in any case, if you do upgrade the calipers this is rarely if ever a *bolt-on* proposition
