Yep thats the go 5 definate angles on that Hoop.

Dave1 wouldnt decreasing the pressure allow the tyre to flatten more & give a bigger contact patch n elongate the the wearpattern to both edges n middle under hard acceleration ?.

I thought thats why you lower pressures for track days on Road tyres.

Nope, you lower the pressures to get more heat into a tyre, therefore better grip, the hotter the tyre the higher the pressure will then rise....
If you lower the pressures to the point the tyre is changing profile or flattening you defeat the purpose of well designed tye and you may as well use Barracudas..:-). That and your tyre will spin on the rim and handle like a dog...

Try riding on a cold slick with 30 psi... It feels like the bike has square wheels until it warms up and regains its design shape...

Cool very imformative Dave1 8) So lemme check that i got the concept right ......
by lowering cold pressures for the track, the tyre will get hotter From more heat being worked harder & in doing so will increase its pressure to make up for the lack of cold pressure ?.

Most heat generated in tyres comes from the tyre wall (or in a bike's case the whole curve) flexing; compressing and moving the air inside. So lower pressure = more flex.
Plug one end of a bike pump and and push down on the plunger for a while, check out how hot the pump gets .

That's it. If everyone else can see the thin strip where it is smooth between the outer edge and the top.

I like MadKaw's answer. It kind of makes sense since I know I am back on the power early, but never cracking it right open until the bike is more upright.

didn't take photos myself becasue I can barely see the strips anymore after this morning commute :(

Hey Nick, is that a 636 or 10R?
