Head first into a Shark.........yet again. (S900)

I have replaced the damaged RSF3 with another Shark, the S900. I've replaced all my other damaged gear as well but i'll post that in a differant topic.

I had a look at a few reviews and also what else was available but decided I liked this one, which was a gamble because I went against all my normal procedure of trying before buying. Yep, I ordered one in from the local boys without even trying one on.

I figured that being the same brand/size helmet it should still fit fairly snug onto my melon and I wasn't far from wrong, Phew. The fit was pretty damn similar although it does seem like it has a bit of a tighter fit on the top of my head. I can only just feel it but it's deffinately there. I'm pretty sure everything will end up molding well. The cheek inserts are tight again but not as much as the RSF3.

Chin strap is no differant to the older helmet. I was concerned that all the reviews I read stated that the helmet came with a quick release mechanisim and not the d buckles. I later found out that that option was not distributed to Australia and some other country (can't remember which one now). This might be one of the differances between the Aust standard models and the OS ones.

Wind noise is greater than the RSF3 was but its quieter than my older Nitro helmet. I would have thought that if Shark had managed to find a way to keep the wind noise down then they would have stuck to it but apparently not, well for this model anyway.

It does a party trick in the form of a drop down tinted visor. This was a bit of a selling point for me and something I was itching to try out. There is a lever near the LHS of the normal visor that drops the tinted visor down. It falls behind the clear visor and actually hits me on the nose when I drop it withoput proper control. This should stop me from wearing sunnies under my helmet as well as putting an end to the problem of carrying/stopping and swapping a tinted visor. It could be a little bit darker but worked well for the half hour of good sunlight we had in Warrnambool today.

It came with a sheet of reflective stickers that you can put on if you want. Enough for the back/front/sides. Think i'll give it a miss because i enjoy the graphics as they are at the moment.

RRP of about $360ish dollars but picked mine up from the local blokes for $330. Not bad considering they stated earlier that it would cost me an extra $30 freight which the distributer charges for a one off order.

Doesn't feel weird/claustrophobic to me, but that's me. Out of curiosity I tried putting my sunnies on (rectangular shaped frame) and the visor still came down over them. They didn't seem to rub on it at all but then that's all going to be different from person to person, and for different glasses designs. Anyone wearing glasses would have to try it out themselves, just like with any other helmet.

Not sure about the S900, but the Shark Vision has the drop down tinted visor and also has small removable pads inside the helmet to allow for the arms of your glasses to fit in. Excellent idea

Coool.. Will have to check it out. If it means not needing to take prescription sunnies as well as normal glasses I'm all for the concept!

Got myself a Shark RSI from Sydney City on Friday Now I'm trying to find a cheap tinted or irridium visor for it, the US of A is looking best at the moment, but the postage is pretty steep, does anyone else need one and I'll see if they'll combine for cheaper shipping
this is what my new helmet looks like, I may have gone the Shark Vision but they didn't have one in my size (I would have been a M for that helmet but I'm L for the RSI) but the RSI is apparently a higher spec helmet and it suited my compulsive shopping habit as it was available to take with me

I got the same helmet and love the tint,find it really handy. Don't feel claustrophobic with it but sometimes it will just touch my nose therefore I don't know how it will go with prescriptions behind it. As said you'd be better of just going in to a store and trying it on.

What's the comparability of the RSF3 visors to this one? I now some visors fit different models and I happen to have spare clear and tinted visors for the RSF3 that the road ate. I'll PM you as well.
