ZZR 1100 Battery placement

It happened... I knew it would someday... Left the keys on and drained the battery... DOH!! Ok I read somewhere the battery is under the tank!! Yep sure is took me half an hour to work out how to get to it What a great idea to place the battery in an easily accessible place.
I love my bike and have been really enjoying it's capabilities, comfort, acceleration, fuel economy but this is one disappointing design flaw.

Is there a more simple way to charge the battery?

Wait till you need to replace the headlight globe I blew a globe on my ZZR1100 on a Motogp trip in 2005. I gave up trying to replace it myself after 30 mins and took my bike to the Yamaha dealer at Sale VIC.... Took him almost 3 hours to change the the globe. He was so embarrased he only charged me $50.....

I had the C model and it was under the seat
Headlight was easy too

mmmmmmm... So the D model had the great advances of.. a fuel gauge instead of warning light, larger fuel tank, and inaccessible battery and headlight bulb. I would have preferred a couple of litres less in the tank if I could get to the battery more easily.
Did the C model have ram air?
I thought I had the perfect bike but it seems there are some issues... not too many though can't think of a bike I would rather have fort the $

Yeah but it only had the single intake

Try getting a flat battery out on a ride, tank off, jump start it and then you have to get the tank and fuel line back on before the carbies run out of fuel.

Headlight globe - easy - throw in a 100w high beam, big difference.
