If his '97 model is FI and "most late model bikes are" mine must be aswell.
its a funny looking setup tho ;) And i'll have to get a injector needle kit when i get my new exhaust...

It must be the old style pre-electronic fuel injection which uses jet 'injectors' in the 'throttlecarbodies' and operates on engine vacuum rather than electric fuel pump pressure and electronic firing. I believe these units are also constant flow, and use only throttle position and engine vacuum to operate. This bike, being obviously ahead of its time, would probably have the old style ABS as well, which uses rider input to control brake lock. Basically if the wheel locks under braking, you simply let go of the lever a bit to get it to unlock!!! Groundbreaking stuff.

On a more serious note, has anyone noticed how bikes in WA go cheaper on ebay?

I wonder if the guy questions Kawasaki's use of a choke on an injected bike???

Flippancy aside, my first car, a 1975 Volvo, was fuel-injected.

Might have something to do with the cheap ones being in places like Broome, Geraldton and, as in the case at hand, Busselton.

You'd have to make the price pretty damn attractive to tempt anyone into traipsing that far for a bike.

Hemi, just as a side note, My 03 636 was definately electronicaly injected and it had a choke, as does the Z750 I have a loaner today.

or we could look at the old triumph mechanical injection that first came out in
1963 or 1964 if you want. i use to work as a triumph mechanic for a year when i was younger, and I also used to sprint race a TR6. In fact i know of a lovley TR4 that has just been ground up rebuilt as a factory rally replica, thats may be up for sale if anyones keen.

Yeah I have worked on a lot of old Euro mechanical injected cars, system used to work pretty well, but electronic is obviously much better. The above was just another of my poor attempts at humour. I should just give up really, but cannot help myself.

I didn't realize some injected bikes have a choke, you would think engine management would take care of that...

Are you sure it's not just a throttle trim which winds the throttle up a bit?
That's what most fuel injected bikes have to let the engine warm up smoother.

I asked the dealer about that the first time I saw one. It's not a choke "it's a cold start idle speed control".

Even the idle speed control should really be taken care of by engine management one would think

The 1956 Mercedes Gullwing was Fuel injected heh..
3L engine that output 240hp or something like that, our modern naturally aspirated engines don't put that out!
