Your thoughts on a Crim.

Mon Jan 31, 2011 6:24 pm

Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade (significantly) and have found a Black and Gold Crim in Brisbane that I'd like some feedback on:

Here's the BikeSales link for a 2005 ZX-10R with 40K on the clock for $9700 drive away.
I also got some more info from the dealer about the modifications (quoted verbatim):
Yoshimura RS3 carbon fibre slip on exhaust
solo seat cowl- as well as the original seat too.
knerled gold bar ends(look trick in real life)
    Vortex adjustable black rear sets
    gold chain
gold "ZX10R" chain guard (also has the kawasaki "K" on it as well)
Black steel braided front brake lines (Goodridge- the propper ones)
gold "six shooter" pick up knobs on the swing arm(for your race stand)
    gold spike screen bolt kit.

I can't easily go and check the bike out (as I'm based in the Blue Mountains), but I love to hear your opinions. (yes, I realise this could get ugly)
Additionally, if anyone in Brisbane is heading that way and would like to give me a review, I would be eternally grateful.
I'd like to be able to use this bike to do some decent trips (Gingers, etc.), but will also be commuting to and from Sydney a couple of times a week.
At risk of sounding stupid; is it worth that money? (minus the usual bargaining of course) and does it sound legit (it's currently unregistered)?
I've already read this thread and checked out some opinions in the latest poll, but I'd like some specific feedback about this particular bike.
I'd love a Black Crim or Gumby -- esp. the Gumby with the underseat exhaust, I think it looks awesome, and my budget is about $10K, and while I'm not in a rush, I would love to have something before the summer is out (and something a little larger than a 250 to take to Gingers!)
With all that in mind, other suggestions (or links to friends that are selling something similar) would also be appreciated.

Cheers! :D

Crims are great, they make mad hp - I think that rig is a bit overpriced for a bike that is now 6 years and 3? models old though.......

BUY MINE YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO!!!!!

It's even black :)

I don't know that it is overpriced, maybe with the higher kays, but I think they're all still going around $9-$10K??

That's what I thought, but Mels right, they do seem to be going for that money, and hence why I posted this, to try and find out what everyone thought.
Here's the link that I was using to try and find a suitable Crim. Prices seem to range from $12K to $8K...

Thanks Rob, that means a lot.
I'll find it hard to part with the trusty GPX, there's quite some memories there, but it's certainly time to move on.

I'll send you a PM. It could be a possibility -- yours is registered, and I know/like how the owner rides. :D

You'll love the crim mate ;) ;)

After you nearly pull your arms out of there sockets whilst doing a power wheelie & scare the absolute crap out of
yourself , you'll have a constant smile on your face every time you ride a Crim.

I tend to agree now that I think about it. Plus it could be indicative of other issues (why didn't the dealer re-rego it?)

Ta! I saw that bike ages ago, but figured it'd been sold by now.
$9K makes that an interesting proposition!

I might give that one in QLD a miss (too hard, no rego, etc.)
Now I get to pick between Mels (well maintained, except-for-that-one-drop) Crim, or Smeks (apparently flogged/"ridden-as-the-manufacturer-intended"?) Gumby?

Thanks for your feedback guys (and girls). :)
