ZXR 400 fuel tap question

Thu Jan 13, 2011 6:09 pm

Hi all,
Since I got my ZXR 400 Ive had a confusing time recognising the correct position for on /off/ res! its a stupid question but, what position is the tap in off, on res? Ive got no reference on the frame like a ZX6R I had did as the frame has been painted. I had the tank off months ago and had it in the 'off' position as I didnt have fuel flowing so I put it back together and referenced what I thought was the right position (ie 9 o'clock), however I started it up today after weeks not running it and it ran then I realised it was in what I though was the "off"! either that or the taps buggered....
Thanks

pull fuel line off of tap while theres fuel in tank ,if it comes out that would be on,and when it doesnt that would be off .There is one thing ! make sure you remember which position the tap is in while preforming this task. :? Not sure on how you can work out reserve :?

If its the same as the zrx1200? off is 3 o'clock, on is 6 o'clock and res is 12 o'clock.

Your 400 should be the same as the 750's. Up (12 o'clock) is ON, horizontal (9 o'clock) is OFF and down (6 o'clock) is RES. This is provided you have the hoses on the right tap fittings. If you need to rebuild the tap, you can still buy the seals from Kawasaki for them.

His tap should be the same as the ZXR 750's as the ZRX 1200 is too late a model. It will only face in the one direction however, either the tap faces forward (early) or back (later model) in which case he has all the answers above.
