Dealer sponsors or not..??

Like what I mentioned to Dan at the Supers..... I can make some laminated cards up for nix.

I also thought of the key tags ( like the ones you can put pictures in) or the rubber ones so we can get our logo printed on. I would have to get a price for them. They always trust a clown...( you guys knew i was a clown i hope).and a blonde with big boobs..

I understand about liability when it comes to the " Membership" title etc..... but we are a social club NOT a full on, coloured motorcycle club!!!!

If you decide you want to have ( or the companies involved) require a card of some description I am willing to donate some free time.

KSRC's future money raiser....(LOL).

Yeah and I already have the jar ready for Halls Gap gang, so don't forget to bring a site donation!

With track days you get a group discount just by booking in with 3 or more ppl. Although that doesn't happen in Sydney anymore as you know..
Theres so many on line groups trying it on for discounts they don't do it unless you book out a whole grade...

Aside from the fact that the way the trackday costs now suck harder than a transvestite in kings cross. There's always EC, or failing that remember your just 5 minutes away from Putty raceway .

I would rather go as a clean skin as far as dealers names on the back of shirts go, the ones I use in queensland arent on the back of the shirt and if you want a discount just ask Its not hard to get 10% off anything in the store if your spending a few bucks and at any retail stores that have roving salesguys the fact that the sales guy is right there is enough reason to ask for 10 percent off he will adjust the price with a stroke of the biro.

But still where the shirt while out shopping at your favourite store if for no other reason than you have to shop at the same store that stuffed up yappas paint job 4 times and want to show a bit of solidarity.

As a Marketing Manager for a chain of battery stores around the country, I would love to be able to offer all KSRC members a discount on any battery they needed (not just bike batteries). The problem I have is that I don't have the confidence in my network that they would honour this discount and consequently remember to honour this discount into the future. This is certainly a communication issue as I can alert my stores to do this, but it's up to them to inform their own staff etc...

As such, i've chosen not to do a blanket "% off" for our group but encourage those who require batteries to contact me directly...

As far as the t-shirt goes...........as stated b4 i think no dealers. With the discount it appears though kawi oz and the dealers only recognise Kawasaki Riders Club of Australia as the "official" kawasaki riders club.

Anyone know how big this "official" club is ?

I think KSRC needs to be much bigger/active members b4 dealers will take us seriously. There maybe 400 + members but how many active?

krc are shit..i was with them for a year...i got a newsletter once every 3 months...no rides organised, no nothing..cost me $30 a yr for a lil badge & useless newsletter...yes they r the official group, but 5 years ago they were shit...did NOTHING

i say if they cant give 10% then dont buy it.THO they DONT have to give a discount..i get harrassed all the time at work, we are already cheaper thasn every body else, so we cant cut price any lower ....ppl get the shits cos i wont give em a further discount (when we are already $100 cheaper on a hot water system than anyone in adelaide)...then they sulk, walk out, and come back a day later & pay our ticketed price...i think it was summed upif ur not willing to part with ur $$, then dont go in to buy...if u get shit service, then dont buy.ALWAYS try to get the best deal possible (whether that means haggling, or going to the cheaper place, but remeber, retailers need to make money to stay in business, so if u get really good service and its a lil dearer than sum1 who gives u shit service, pay the extra, ....id rather pay 4 good service than get it cheap & b trewated like shit,....
oh yea back on to the topic...get rid of the sponsor, we can look after ourselves, and we can bag shit out of bad shops then...

We cannot let the stores make it hard for us to get a discount. I reckon can it if they won't play ball.

As Beryl says, 10% is very normal, I get 25% on some things at my local dealer because I have bought 2 new bikes in 6 months, and so they should too.

I am late posting on this topic

I have sat back and read the posts because I wanted ppls perspective
on the question of Sponsors

a year ago, the question was.. Should we have Kawasaki Dealer sponsors?
and the answer at that time, from 'most' members was yes.
The club at that time was growing (still is) and without a committee, a board
no el presidente, it was one big social club
which is I am pretty sure what most of us still want it to be.
We thought our size would (should) give us some benefits
so a few members (myself included) went out and 'arranged' a sponsor
with the support of most of the other members.
The sponsorship was also seen as giving us a legitimacy ...
we were not just a mob of idiot bike riders
the Tees were to help us be one of the better bike groups
the Kwaka support just added to all this

The deals were simple ..at no initial cost to dealer, we did the advertising
(web site tshirts)and for that...
we would, IF we frequented their business get some sort of discount
(on service or tyres or clothing etc etc)
so
MORE business for the dealer if we went
and if we did not go there, no cost to him ('cept less business)
so...
12 months later, what happened?
the single dealer per capital city has not worked as well as expected
and why?
*distance for one.. why travel from Campbelltown to Parramatta or Melton to Brighton for 5% or 10%.
*Members preference..if you like dealing with the bike mechanic around the
corner coz he gives no BS, why move?
*The dealers..don't understand who we are. They have no KSRC individual ( or committee member) to deal with,
no one KSRC person to ring them and say why did you ignore our member who came to
buy the tyre(or helmet etc)
(and I am NOT volunteering )
The dealers are used to Kwaka OZ handling all the rider support stuff
(just join KRC! yeah right! )
*The dealers have not been as enthusiastic as we had hoped
yep they took our stickers and then...?
anyone seen a KSRC sticker on a dealer window?????
And
*The dealers staff do not help..its like walking into Myers or Target
and asking for a discount ...blah, you get nowhere.

so the future???
this raises some interesting questions
like
do we start to be more formal..with a committee?
do we seriously chase business support?
do we get cards/tags/whatever to ID ourselves?
do we make those Admins/mods/ride leaders spokespersons for the club?
Do we do an MRA or Ulysses and get an official Sponsor/supporters list?
and then get 'official'?

and
what happens if the dealer is bought out/changes hands?
will the new guy honour the deal?? no guarantee there

um i dont think its worth putting extra load on ppl like dave,dan,aardy etc who do all the hard work already...they already look after the site, the shirts,booking campgrounds (when allowed) and yelling at u lot who fark it up for us
oh, we cant have dave with ne extra work, sure the kids r hard work, but its the bloody home brew which he needs to get ready for PI thats more important!!

Im afraid I have to agree with Ian on this one, KSRC is a great group mainly cos of the social aspect, look at dave he made colettes qld trip memorable by having an incident, get better quick dude, we have tanya showing herself in leather(women in leather how can you go wrong) and mario being our kawasaki merchadise model.
KSRC to me is great the way it is and I also agree with neka (shit thats twice this year) the few who work so tirelessy to make this site what it is and the work they do, do we really want ot have that extra load and make KSRC like other organisations with the infighting and bitching due to commitee's and other crap.
Personally, stay the way we are, if we arent getting anything with sponsors, drop them and just stay being the pretty good place that it is...

madKaw (Dave) did I believe, last year, make contact with Kwaka Oz
thru the Marketing dept (he's in Melb atm so will wait for him to confirm)
but the response was a bit lukewarm...just like the dealers

300+ users of their (expensive) product and they don't seem to care
thats the sorta feeling I got following Dave's move

It's difficult to get the factories or distributors to get involved in anything like this as I think it's just too diificult for some of them to comprehend. At one point the company I was instructing with made an attempt to get Kawasaki to subsidise learner bikes for the L's course and provide some discounts for instructors.

The idea being that 10 learners per week on three learner ranges by 52 weeks per year translates to at least 1500 new bums on Kawasaki's range of learner legal gear every year.

You would think this might then translate to potential new sales as the most common topic of discussion at learner courses is what bike etc etc.

Unfortunately they couldn't see an advantage in it and it died.
