If you'd like my opinion you need more torque than a 3/8" drive ratchet can offer, and the tightening is best done with a torque wrench.

FWIW my torque wrench that suits the axles on my bike (and previously my Kawasaki ZZR 600) is 1/2" drive and has a handle ~60cm long. My 3/8" one is dinky in comparison and doesn't tighten to the required torque.

I have a set of 1/2" drive hex sockets, alas can't remember where I got them from...

Going to try and pick one up from auto shop tomorrow.

Or I'm going to see if i can just borrow one from kelen kawasaki penrith, as Ill need them to remove both tyres to replace with slicks.

How good is the Aussie Dolla to the Yank dollar, I'm guessing it up grade suspension time. :D

Even more tightarse - and in true Wasteland style.....is a 17mm bolt welded through the end of 1m length of 40mm waterpipe !!!!!

Oh yeah baby, I haven't met a front axle yet that can resist the tempation of this !!!!

It works way better than those dinky hex-tools. Besides me, its the biggest tool in the workshop !!
