It's Back........as well

Wed Oct 20, 2010 3:09 pm

Well a few of you were there to see me come off a couple of times (yes a couple) during the last round at Wakefield park. More of you may have seen the after math on TV Speedweek a couple of weeks ago, and if you didn't here you go.
(Watch the start of Race 3 for vid of the damage)

also can be found here with Ben Strong following me when I crashed on the Sunday.
(notice the smoke that comes from the bike as I down change at the end of the straight)

Well this definitely took the cake for the most damage I have caused to a bike (except for the Wes Cooley incident but we dont talk about that anymore ;) ). On Saturday I locked the front wheel trying a passing move (well thats all I can come up with) down into the cauldron causing me to hit the deck pretty hard and flip the bike. Damage report
Bike
- Boken Subframe
- Broken screen
- Bent front wheel
- caved in the right side of my tank
- Cracked up the farings

Rider
- Sore swallow jared knee
- Sore shoulder
- Scratched helmet (bastard :x )

Managed to get the bike running again by race one on Sunday but rode like a cat in the first race so nothing to brag about there. Race 2 saw me start well but a funny noise came from the bike (started sounding like a Ducati  ) Spent a lap in last place looking around on my bike and waiting for a black flag. When I didnt get one I decided to HTFU and have a dig. Overtook about 3 riders in a couple of laps and started to catch Wattie (although he was a long way in front by this stage and the race just wouldnt be long enough even if I could wind him in). Anyways heading onto the straight through the hairpin right I had the arse end step out huge on me. Nothing to kick you out of the seat but more than the normal spin and drift you get through that corner. Thinking the the right side of the tyre was a bit hot now I took it easy at the end of the straight and up the hill. However the next right hander I hit at the top of the hill the bike just slipped out mid corner. Long story short I am thinking either oil coming out of my right hand engine cases or the link pipe loosened off and jammed up under the rear wheel causing the rear wheel to lock (which by the marks on the track the rear did lock  ) this also explains the thumpy noise.

Bike damage from Sunday
- Bent link pipe
- Smashed speedo
- Broken front fairing
- Grinded down footpeg
- Bent exhaust hanger
- More damage to the fairing
- Damaged Front MC

With the weekend over and the bike trashed the rebuild was going to be a biggin'

Well the rebuild was a decent job but it is finished now. God the Aussie dollar being so strong atm saved me a bucket load :kuda:

Parts list
- larger starter cover replaced
- New front fairing stay
- New speedo
- New screen
- Front wheel and discs straightened by laurie
- New GB Racing cover from Triway at Techspec
- New Exhaust and link pipe
- New subframe from the US
- New exhaust hanger
- New frame sliders from the US
- Paint job from our sponsors at Sydney Sportsbike Body Repairs
- New decals from Site supporter, Sponsor and genuine top bloke Robracer at R&T Screen Printing
- New Vortex footpegs from the US

A big thanks to Sydney Sportsbike Body Repair who fixed the fairings. Top job considering they were in more bits then what was originally intended. They also pushed out the tank instead of bogging it and you really couldnt tell it was ever caved in. Awesome work

She is ready for the last round at EC from the 29-31 of this month. And I remember to take the side stand off before taking pics ;)

Out at the creek the other week it looked as good as new, bar some "settling in" issues Nice work mate. The almost colour coded Nakkers replica lid looks the goods too (best design of any lid for years I reckon, except perhaps for the Cooley ;) )
