come on, get real... how do you know?

top speed is always going to differ for everybody.

Due to the extensive development with motoGP, superbike, supersport and endurance teams as well as wind tunnel tests, track timing etc, the Aeromax screen does produce a higher speed.

I know that each bike and rider are different, but things like airflow and air penetration are scientificaly based, any improvement will have an effect on top speed.

All I have to say is that it is based on the results of their development. Ermax have been making their screens since 1977 and are still at the top. There must be a good reason for it, and I don't see any serious business communicating on that factor for so many years without having solid grounds to stand on.

But then again, you don't have to take my word for it, try it out and see for yourself. There is a saying: "don't knock it 'till you've tried it".

dude,

where, except in germany, can you find out your bike's actual top speed?

and even then that'll fluctuate on a good day

take the motoGP riders's top speeds down the straights - they never get up to the same speed with each lap, ermax or not.

while i dont dispute the benefits of a better than stock screen - i use a dub bub myself, not ermax mind you - i'll always be sceptical of their ability to increase any bike's maximum speed.. besides, where's the fun in going at a zillion k's an hour all day?

the higher the screen, the more frontal area and your drag coefficient goes up.

Those points I will not argue, but can safely say that if the screen is well designed, you will have less drag and therefore better performance. That's pure physics!! At the speeds we are talking about, it makes a difference.

The fun at going a zillion K's all day, I don't know what that feels like, but I know some riders who will ride no other way. Most of them only on track though, or way ahead of me.

The Aeromax screen is the only I know of, that have holes drilled to create better airflow around the rider and in the cokpit. Oh, and it fits perfect too!

BTW the German Autobahns are so full of traffic nowdays, no one can ride at horrendous speeds anymore unless it is in the middle of the night. I remember the days when people use to leave the left lane always free for the speed freeks. Nowdays, it just doesn't happen anymore.

The track is another good place to check your top speed, cheaper than trip and freight to Deutschland.

You are totally entitled to your scepticism and your opinions, as I. That is what makes Human kind such a fascinating breed!!!

Vive la diference!!

true but the drag from the rider is greater than the drag from the fairing.
logically the double bubble would be somewhere between the two. this would decrease the drag from the rider, therefore it would lower the overall drag co-effcient and, mathmatically at least, increase the potential top speed.

That's what I was trying to get at :D

Quick Poll.....has anyone actually done the top speed on there bike barring track work and would 3-4 km really matter? (considering we are probably talking 250km plus)

I just really wanna see my instrument cluster...I heard a rumour its pretty good

True again, I don't use my bike to half of what it can do, and still haven't been able to get it higher than 180, always running out of room due to a corner rapidly approaching....

Riding a naked, it puts me off the list to test the Aeromax. Anyone keen on lending me their ride?

If you are tall and do quite a bit of touring, Ermax also make a High Protection screen which has a curved lip at the top. I will have to check how much extra height there is on that screen, usually between 5 and 10cm extra.

Again the screen is tested in wind tunnels to reduce buffeting effects, and give better aerodynamics. They would come a little cheaper than the Aeromax screen, I am still waiting on prices for those ones.

You should be able to finally see your instrument cluster. I'll get back to you as soon as I have complementary info.

Ya, been above that a few times 8) (285) I can tell you turbulence behind the screen is a big deal, when Iam excellerating past 240kph tucking in is very important. Its not the frontal area that is of concern it is how that area performs, suzukis haybusa has a bigger area than my zx12r but in wind tunnel tests the bugly busa comes out with a better drag co-efficient.

I think the point here, and most will agree, is that 3-4km/h will only be seen (if at all) at terminal velocity... which most of us will not see day to day. So, paying 100 bucks more for benefits that most of us are never going to use... doesn't do it for me.

I am about to order a Puig from the US - $69.95 USD + $44 for shipping - still cheaper than a local unit. Does anyone else want one and I will see if getting them together we will be better off shipping wise.

i did exactly 255kmh on my 05 6r the other day. to be honest i thought the stock screen was fine. i wasnt buffeted that much and i didnt stay at that speed for too long anyway
and unless my last name is rossi, 3-4kmh doesnt mean much to me...
meh, im not gonna bother changing my screen.

How tall are you booze?

I am about 6'1" and I can't see poo unless I move my head down.

Plus, there is no way I can get down behind that screen. My chin is about 4 inches in front of the tank dent and I tend to look over the top of the screen. So, adding 80mm to the screen height will make a huge difference.

Personally, I can't wait to piss the OEM screen off.

Point taken for the top speed argument, some people do think it is a plus though.

The other benefit is the reduced buffetting at high speeds, which some of us like to test out when on the road every now and then. I have a favourite stretch of road on which I always try to hammer down.

All in all its each to their own, but I know that I'd rather spend a bit more on something that I know will do the job and be of great quality and finish.

Puig are not too bad, at that price its worth its money.... Go ahead!!

hey sam
im 6 foot mate. if i sit closer to tha tank i cant see much. but it doesnt really bother me if im cruising round town. and when im hammering im tucked up which i means can see the shift light/speedo fine!
make sure you post pics up when you get your screen tho!!!
