Newie from Sydney

Thu Jul 08, 2010 9:35 pm

Hey guys,

Im Andrew 20 yrs old living in inner-west sydney, just got my new 2010 Ninja 250R yesterday. Only got my L's last week, so as new as they come. Only rode my bike twice so far, only in the carpark where i live...planning to hit the road tomorrow if the weather clears up, can't wait!! Love the bike so far, easy to ride and looks great (...and the potential power, still yet to experiance).

Cheers guys.

welcome to ksrc!

Have fun out there and progressively ride further and further but stay in quiet areas to start with! learning to ride a bike can be one of the most satisfying things you'll ever do :)

Thanks guys. Went for a small ride just around quite streets, went well except i had probs with the gear changes. Im not used to the boots yet and cant really feel where my feet are positioned in relation to the gear lever, it felt quite uncomfortable, and had trouble changing back up. So i might ride with runners just untill im comfortable with the gears. But yeah im having fun riding and cant wait till im more confident to go on big rides :D

Welcome dude
I'd say stick with the boots. It feels weird to start with but you get used to them quickly. Just keep getting out on the road.
Nice bike btw. I got the same one! Wack some blue rim tape on those wheels and it looks even better 8)

Welcome and def stick with the boots. If you're tall u'll have trouble because it has a low seat. While parked, try to position ur boot on the pegs so that your toes can slide over and under the shifter by pivoting ur boot on the peg only. Get used to this sensation, take it slow, build confidence and have fun!

I recommend sticking with the boot as well. Definitely feels weird at the beginning but you'll get used to it. Better safe than sorry. I remember losiding my bike when I was on my L's and the Basketball shoes I was wearing didnt stand a chance against the tarmac.

Ride as much as you can so your confidence level gets built up. One advice is to not get too cocky. If you got any questions then there are a lot of guys here that can help you out. Ride safe.
