Brembo Brakes

Postby darkness » Fri Apr 16, 2010 9:34 pm

Hey Guys,
Just regarding brakes. The stock front brake calipers on my R1 has six pistons currently..i'm considering changing to brembo brake calipers and know they only have 4 pistons.. the question is, is it worth really spending the money on brembo brakes??.. are they over rated and should i just invest in really good pads like endless pads..Is adding brembo just a bling factor or will i really feel a great improvement in my braking...Lastly, do we know of importers, suppliers and retailers of brembo in aus..tried looking but hard to find..thanks
BINGO. I love that game, but I can never remember what to say when I win.

Honestly dude the brakes on your R1 are about as good as it gets. Brembo's are for race god's. Unless you've got the lever back to the bars at every corner I think you're wasting your cash. Stick HH pads in it and you'll probably flip the bastard on it's head. Oh and by the way....... "get a fuggin Kawasaki..... :)

In addition to what Glen said, if you haven't already get some braided lines on there too.

Yeah sorry about that. I got hammered last night and remembered my login. Yamaha brakes are crap, you should pack them immediately and send them to to old mate in WA with a $50 note for taking them off your hands. What you want are Tokico calipers off a 2005 ZX10..... :D

Mate, have you thought about throwing your pennies into some suspension..might pay dividends, a nice ride can make all the difference.. 8)

From all reports too, those Yammies have great brakes standard ! :)

I actually took my bike to teknik(suspension place) to get them lowered coz i'm a dwarf, i enquired about better suspension and they told me unless i want to spend $$$$ on ohlins suspension , the suspension on the r1 are also good enough...
