I'm having the same sorts of issues on mine

how would you go about checking valve clearances?
Potentially another statistic waiting to happen, LOL

i have the same problem, i dont even bother start mine in the cold normally......if i have too i put the choke on full then slowly push it back off to get it to fire up then put the choke back on again.
