Opinion on this ZZR250

Sun Apr 03, 2005 5:39 pm

Umm, what do you guys think of this?

To me it looks like one of the best I've seen and the price seems good.

See, I'm in a bit of trouble...someone went for a 2 hour lesson today...and someone really, really liked it...

Make a offer, it all depends on the condition and how keen you are..you could always tell them there dreaming and see what happens.

RG, I think the "lady owner" thing is supposed to imply that its been looked after, and hasn't had the guts fanged out of it :)

They're obviously not very familiar with any of the KSRC ladies.... with the exception of myself, who rides like a nana :P

If your GF is planning on doing a few miles on it, you will find it very difficult to sell in 12-18 months when it has 40000K's +

It looks neat, and I can tell you from experience tha 34000 k's is *not too many* on a ZZR, but, they are difficult to sell (probably the reason this is priced lower than most ?) when they get above 35-40 000.

If re-sale isn't overly important then go for it, they're great fun bikes.

It's missing stickers from the lower front fairing.

I was told to expect a trade in of about 4500 for mine with 25000 k's on the clock (same model/colour). so the price for that one seems pretty reasonable.

Missing stickers eh? Didn't pick that up. I am guessing accident repair perhaps? Would it really matter? It looks fixed to me. I actually could live with that, providing it was just fairing damage.

In comparison with 1991 ZZR250's with 60,000km++ asking around $3500, it looks, well better value to me. A lot of corroding goes on it 14 years...

Spending that bit more would mean it would have to be a keeper. I am just so disillusioned looking at all these really, really old 250's :?

Felix help yourself to a 2nd hand Z750 n hand down the ER5 mate. be a much better option then buying another small underpowerd bike which will be outgrown n have to be sold for something better..
Cheers Brett

Yeah, that is actually a consideration.

If I had been still working, it wouldn't matter so much, I'd just buy something for me (ZZR600, 2002+ 6R/ZX7/etc). At the moment, we could conceivably pull together the money for something for her, but most of what I would like to get is a lot more $$$. If we get rid of a car we can get me something and have money left over. But it screws us badly if we decide we need a second car later on...bah!

I want to get something for her so she doesn't lose what she learns, and can come on some country strolls with me soon so she can get a bit of confidence etc.

Then again, maybe I shouldn't rationalise it too much, and just buy the fraggin' thing already!!

On a closer look,
1) Right exhaust seems to have a little dent.
2) Right front fender got a little knock

Lady owner might of had an off and scared herself enough to sell it. 8)

Looks good though.

Question(s) for Felix:

Why would you need more than one car? Do you use the car much?

I'm on two wheels only. I deregistered my car in December because it had done all of about 600km in 6 months, and most of those were done by people borrowing it.

Just a thought.

Yeah I'd buy it.. Try t get the price down a bit though..

And as for the lady owner crap.. I hate it when people write that...

I hit rev limiter every bloody gear with my zzr... I think just because you put lady owner it hasn't been ridden the way it is spos to be ridden and that's flat out IMO...

Answer for Rusty:

I bought my car before I had even thought of getting a motorcycle licence, and at the time gf was here in t'ba while I lived and worked on the Coast. Not ideal, but that's how it was. We bought her car 3 years ago, as we needed her to have a car we didn't have to worry about, as it was most likely I would move away chasing work, which is pretty much how it turned out.

I could have kept my old BMW, but as it was it needed some expensive repairs to the front end, and had already done over 315,000km...engine rebuilds can be very pricey on those things.

Anyway, I'm off for a ride.
