New rider - ZX2R

Postby diesel » Thu Mar 31, 2005 7:13 pm

hey guys i just bought my first bike.
It's a neat ZX2R.
The factory pipe sounds a bit whiney though.
Can any one suggest a pipe with a crisper note and where i could get one.
Or where i could go with a good range.
Power gains would be good too.
I live in the northern suburbs on melbourne.

Cheers,
Vince.

Welcome Vince,
Mate you're probably better to wait for the mexi can locals to get back on line after the Supers for the Exhaust question. I'm sure you'll get some good local advice then.
Cheers Brett

G'day Vince! Post some piccies of the bike so we can have a look. I sympathise re the can... Mine's still stock too. I was supposed to be getting an awesome, handmade, totally illegal noise maker for my birthday - but that was in April. Last year. Maybe it's coming this year instead!..... sad10.gif

Hope you get the can this year.

Vince I have a 2 and a quick and easy solution I found was to get a really long drill and put a few extra holes in the baffle....the more you drill the louder it gets. The harder solution was to chop the end off, pull all of the guts out then have the end welded back on. Totally stuffs the power but man is it LOUD. You could hear it over the top of Dukes with Termis at Eastern Creek. Probably not the best option if you don't want to attract too much attention but the cages sure as hell know where you are. I was very careful about how much I revved it when cops were around though. You also needed earplugs for anything longer than a 5 minute ride. If you do go for an aftermarket can I have been told that getting the carbs re-jetted makes a difference.
19,500 before the cut out. Can you hear me SCREEEEEEEAM!!!!!!!!!

good suggestion but not quite the result i'm lookin for.
i've heard about jetting the carbs aswell and something i'm looking at doing. cheers for all the responses guys, it's much appreciated.
There he goes. One of God's own prototypes. Some kind of high powered mutant never even considered for mass production. Too weird to live, and too rare to die.
