ignition advancer

Postby parto » Thu Sep 17, 2009 8:42 am

I'm about to play around with the ignition advancer with my 1992 ZXR 750 i was thinking of around 3deg to start with the motor is stock but does have a full system and jet kit.
Has anybody played with this before any advice would be helpful
thanks

I had a 5 degree advancer on my 93 zxr and a 4 degree one on my 98 zx9r..
You may have to go up a size in main jets, maybe 2 to get it running its best, although with 3 degrees it may not.
The tip to get it running right is to go up in the mains until it runs clean thru the range then tune from there.

Thanks mate
Iv'e played around with ignition advancers in my 98 R1 and CBR 400 race bike and settled for around 3 i thought any more may create problems but if you think 5 should work i'll try it.
When is too much ??

The only reason I had a 5 is, it was cheap. (on ebay).. . :-)
Vance and Hines only made a 5 degree and thats what I had. Worked fine, when the bike ran. Mine was an R model though and had a full system, race air box, factory cdi, flat slides etc...
4 should be fine.. If you read the article I linked in the other post, I believe they went with a 4..
